This is a thread to talk about your National Anthem.

As for national anthems, not interested! I am not very patriotic. I hate everyone equally.

Fun fact - the bloke who wrote the national anthem for St Helena had never been there. He'd only seen a picture of the place or something. He wrote a country and western-style tune, it sounds like the theme from an old 60s TV show

The Italian anthem, as the country itself, is a joke. It sounds like a 19th century marching band and what we sing is just the refrain since the lyrics seem to have been written by a historian during a bad trip...
And I've no interest in the game, btw.

@andreoni79 I like the Italian anthem. I'm going to Malta in August so may take a march over to Italy.

One thing I don't like about Italy is Ferrari land in Spain. That place sucks.

@Frigate Jerusalem should have a National anthem I agree. Little Donkey or Hallelujah by Leona Lewis.

I love the Portuguese and Italian national anthems. It's a bonus when they play each other in euro/world cups.

Our National anthem is dull compared to many others, I feel.

I too couldn't care less about ANY National Anthem!!

I much prefer Rock Anthems - although I will add 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as one of my favourite Anthems but that's for a completely different reason....

@themcnoisy LMAO that will NEVER be played in my house. I would mute the TV if that's on!! The only 'blue' on my house is PS blue and if I had the choice, that would be swapped...

@BAMozzy You will go on and win the league now. I thought you may drop points at fortress Brighton but you passed that test, which is a tough away day in the prem and you should be home and dry soon enough.

I was thinking if we swapped God save the Queen for Alright by East 17 we would be onto a winner.

@themcnoisy If we do, it will be long overdue. Liverpool are the only team in the past 10yrs to be top at Christmas and fail to win the league and we have done that twice!! There are still 16 games and 48pts available for LFC, 51pts for City and only 7pts in front right now. Granted we have played Arsenal and City twice now but still have Chelsea, Utd and Spurs to play again and any team can beat a top 6 team if they are not at their best. I won't be celebrating until its mathematically assured - a little slip can change everything...

At the start of December, Liverpool were 2pts behind City and by the end of December were 7pts ahead - just shows how quickly things can change in this league. If we win the penultimate game of the year and are still 4pts ahead after everyone else has played, then I will celebrate before the final game of the year but until then, I will taking each game as it comes and hoping that we keep winning to keep adding points. Today was one of those games when you go away, play poorly and come away with a 1-0 - the type of game that often wins Leagues but there is still a long way to go...

National Anthem, what is it with national anthems? I think a better plan would be for the song chosen to go to Eurovision should be the designated National Anthem for that year and whichever song wins must become the national Anthem for all participating countries. This must be memorised and sung in the morning at every school assembly, factory, warehouse office, shop, supermarket and mall, and played on all Radio stations analogue, digital and online at 09.15 every morning. Thus as one we can rise above our petty differences and join together in harmony with our brothers and sisters across oceans and borders and the world will marvel at the chorus of solidarity and unity that rings out across the fields and mountains etc etc.
