Ok, so since Mass Effect Andromeda seems to have fumbled somewhat, I'd like to ask what other sci Fi RPGs and Arpgs (or diablo clones) people could recommend.
I think these are woefully underrepresented genres, other than the mass effect trilogy and KOTOR, there's not much... I jokingly referred to Buck Rogers : Countdown to Doomsday in another thread, which is great but is so old it is now freely available as abandonware....But what else is there? Phantasy Star?
Similarly, as for Arpgs, or diablo clones, AFAIK there is nothing out there. Have I missed out on something?
Technomancer, nice suggestion. The reviews were generally critical, and I don't think it's for me, I think there are many better examples of cyberpunk style RPGs out there.
Hope you enjoy it when you get around to playing it!
@CountFunkula78 I'm also waiting for The Surge and Cyberpunk 2077, but at the moment Alien Isolation is the only great Sci-Fi game on PS4. Last gen had Dead Space, ME, Vanquish, Binary Domain etc.

Transistor - good call! It's an achingly 'cool' game, but also full of substance...I didn't really get into those extra levels on the beach/hammock world so I think I'm over due a replay!
HLD has been on my radar for ages...It looks a bit Zelda-like, which is good, does it have RPG mechanics/stats/upgrades or is it more action based? I'd have got it in the current sale but I'm a bit brassic at the moment.
I've got the other games you listed, all fantastic, the only one I haven't started is Nier on ps3 (I assume you mean the ps3 one), so will remedy that! Haven't finished Fez (don't know why) or Alien (mid game bloat) yet...
And I suppose you can't really 'finish' Destiny...(might get rise of iron when it drops to £15) might be worth a last hurrah with age of triumph.
I think this is why Andromeda being merely average is such a big disappointment - it was carrying the hopes of a major genre!
@CountFunkula78 Yeah HLD has RPG elements in that you need to find weapons which you can then upgrade plus there are a few abilities/stats you can upgrade at vendors in town. It's not particularly deep but it suits the game very well.
Combined with an awesome soundtrack, art style and intriguing world and story I honestly can't recommend it enough.
I actually meant the new Nier Automata which I really enjoyed, I've not actually played the original - maybe I'll fix that one day.
@kyleforrester87
Didn't know it had even that level of depth, I'd not read anything in any reviews about proper RPG elements. I'm also a sucker for a soundtrack, so this is now a must-buy for me! Was hoping for a Vita port, but I know they cancelled it.
Unfortunately I have a self imposed moratorium on buying new games until at least the end of May...
@CountFunkula78 Yeah - I don't want to oversell the RPG elements, they are quite minimal, but as I said they do add an extra layer and compliment the rest of the game well.
