Topic: PES or FIFA

I hope this isn't a loaded question but...PES or FIFA?

It is sort of a loaded question. FIFA's extensive licensing is always something it's had over PES, and The Journey looks like the ridiculous step forward FIFA needs to stay above PES in my opinion. Sure, the gameplay is spot-on in PES and I'm a huge fan of the series, but unless Konami get in some more licenses like the Premier League and the Bundesliga it will stay below FIFA. I'm liking that PES is getting back to its best, though, and if I were to pick a company between Konami and EA it would most certainly not be the latter.

@MERG: If I wanted all the licenced teams etc then I would go for Fifa but if I want the most fun game to play then it has to be PES. What PES lacks in terms of realism with names, clubs etc it more than makes up for it in terms of playability, feel etc.

If you really must have the chance to play as Liverpool or Manchester Utd then obviously it has to be Fifa but if you put the emphasis on the most fluid and free flowing football experience with intuitive, responsive and not overly complex controls and don't mind playing as Merseyside Reds or Manc Devils then its PES

Plus you can easily change team names and upload the right kits if you want to.

Maybe I'm foolish, but I have bought both Fifa and PES for the last two years running. This year I think it will be just PES, though. Can't say I care about the new story mode in Fifa, and I think it's the gameplay that EA need to focus on. It feels really sterile compared to the recent PES games to me. It's really hard to go back to Fifa now, despite its licenses and presentation.

Assuming their promise of USb file transfers for kits / squads etc is indeed true, then there wont be a issue this time for PES.
Even in 2016's version, my online matches would still show the kits and team names as I edited them, so if its made easier, then i'm ecstatic.

In terms of gameplay, PES has really improved, with this next revision getting better according the vast amount of previews/opinions I've read on both. Fifa is looking decent too, although there seems to be an issue with set-piece /penalty taking which most seems to feel over complicated by what players of the game have said.

Hopefully both will be enjoyable, although Im sticking with PES this year and picking up Kick-Off tonight!

Fifa for me despite PES having more enjoyable gameplay. Most of my mates are Fifa fans so I don't really have all that much choice! Ultimate Team is fun even if the computer seemingly cheats its backside off! I'd echo the comments above about Fifa being overly complicated which I think contributes to the feeling of PES being more fun. You can't really go wrong with either though and i'll probably end up with both throughout the course of the year.

Edit: I really loathe giving EA my money though!

Thanks for all of your thoughts. It sounds like I would lean more towards PES but this will also be a decision with my son and he may want more teams/kits.
