Started Hyper Light Drifter this afternoon and have gone through the east and north sections, and started the west. Loving it so far. I think the difficulty and combat are perfectly pitched, to be honest. In the review, Graham speaks about there being no superfluous features, and I have to agree - it's an incredibly cohesive, tightly designed game.

After getting the four purple triangles in the east, I had trouble relocating the door that needed four to unlock. I think my only criticism is the ambiguous map. Aesthetically it's nice but not super useful!

@Quintumply: Is there a door that needs four triangles? From what I've seen, they either require three or eight triangles.

Just finished it, loved it! Slight shame that some stuff seemed to be missing from original trailer (monster thing punching glass tank? Riding the mech?) but that stuff happens over the years.

Overall as good as I'd hoped it would be. I didn't get all the triangles, and I dunno what those slabs with the writing are that you can unlock? Gunna play it through some more now!

@Octane: Hmm. Another example was in the northern section - there are two doors quite close to each other, one asking for three and another asking for what I thought was four. I must've misunderstood - if it needs eight, I'm definitely going to need to dig a little deeper in each area!

@Quintumply: Yeah, there's definitely eight on that door. The ''three''-door was the boss dungeon, no idea what's behind the ''eight''-door. I got seven triangles in the east area, so I'm close to finding out.

@kyleforrester87: There's more than one of those doors though, and if every boss gives you a gun, that leaves you with 5 guns total out of six, I imagine there's another boss or some way to obtain the sixth gun, but I'm not that far into the game yet. Maybe just costumes.. Would be a shame, but I can't imagine what else is locked behind those doors.

On a side note, the west boss is kicking my butt, definitely the most difficult one so far.

@Octane: I opened a 8 triangle door, it's not just a weapon so worth doing I cleared it and only had 4 guns in the end, so I'm missing a few..

@kyleforrester87: Good to know! I'm looking forward to finding all the triangles then. Definitely going back to the east side once I'm done with the west boss.

It seems those stone slabs are written in a secret language (much like Fez..) but according to the steam article I read it's not been translated yet..

I hit the credits last night after playing it for about three hours straight. What a corker of a game this is. I've still got plenty to find as I've only got four triangles for each sector, and I'm super curious what's behind those 8-triangle doors

Finished the game! Collected all the triangles and all 16 keys, got all the monoliths and upgraded all my gear. I got 8 out of 12 costumes, but I didn't feel like spending another few hours trying to track those down; and I don't even want to try to beat those challenges in town, so I went straight for the final boss. He was pretty easy, got him on my first try. I'm not sure if the bosses got easier over time, or if I just kept getting better. Very good game though, I encountered some glitches and minor issues, but other than that, I enjoyed it. It's good to have a game that's actually fair and difficult at the same time, without feeling cheap.

@Octane: Good stuff. The game is great. I did the same as you, perhaps a costume less and I'm missing a couple of keys so will get those at some point. The hardest boss by far is the north one, the rest are quite easy in comparison. And to be fair I think if you did him again with all your upgrades and skill you'd be able to smash him too.

I am trying a NG+ run but it's pretty damn hard with only 2 health pots.

(Spoilerish) One little weird thing, if you click to the right of your game save you can load a small scene of your drifter apparently sitting dead by the camp fire.

@kyleforrester87: NG+ sounds too difficult to me. Maybe some day.. Haha.

Just checked my save file and there's indeed a new icon to the right. Can't move or anything, maybe there's another secret hidden in there?

I still think that the west boss was the most difficult. The north boss was difficult too, but that's the one I beat first, without any upgrades whatsoever. I think that a few shotgun blasts will take that bird down in no time.

@kyleforrester87: Kinda weird. Not that I care at this point, cause I got the PS4 version. But they gave up on the Wii U version due to time constraints. He said that the extra development was figuratively killing them. However, now they're still pumping out new content? It's maybe less work, but still..
