Yay or nay?

I don't care at all about multiplayer (unless it's co-op), I just want a solid single player game that would last me at least 5 hours.

Also, I have a pc that will easily max it, so if there's any known problems with the ps3 version (bugs, glitches, visual problems) I can always go that route if needed. I'd still greatly prefer the ps3 one though.

Any thoughts?

A friend who is a long-time Crysis fan, recently upgraded his PC in anticipation of the game.  But he was very disappointed.  He claimed so many bugs in the PC version, he ended up getting the 360 version.

PS3 version seems fine as well, though the graphics might be slightly less attractive.

Might check official forum to check if others have issues with PC version.

I've been watching my brother play Crysis 2 all weekend. The game is jaw-dropping amazing visually, and is a FPS fanatics wet-dream.

The PS3 being buggy was the multiplayer demo that released on PSN, and it was indeed inferior to PC/360, and that is why it was pulled an fixed. The final product has both games equal, which is really surprising because I didn't think the 360 could push the quality of visuals that I'm seeing on this game on PS3.

It's good, but they've had to make too many performance and IQ sacrifices for my liking. Their temporal AA solution is all over the shop, the sub-HD resolution blurs the entire look of the game, the frame rate hangs around the 20 mark whenever the action starts (going as low as 14 fps on the 360 version), the texture, shadow and geometry pop-in is pretty ugly and the A.I. is comically poor next to stuff like Killzone 3.

That said, the water, lighting, reflections and sheer scale of each level is amazing, and overall I'm really loving the single player campaign. It's got a certain swiftness to it which makes for a refreshing change of pace to all the military FPS games which are flooding the market, and of course the various suit powers give the game a really great tactical edge.

Overall I'm loving it, but for the reasons previously stated, I think Guerilla still hold the crown, as Crytek have had to sacrifice too many important areas to get the game looking as swish as it does.

Thank you both for the updated info. Does anyone have an estimate on the length of the story? It sounds like a must buy, but will it last more than 4-5 hours?

@Robo_1
I've heard about the really bad tearing on the 360 and frame drops on ps3, but I've also heard the pc version to be a lot more buggy (which seems common these days). I think I'd rather sacrifice graphics a bit to play on Ps3 rather than a more buggy but prettier pc version. Not to mention it gets me out of having to hear the roar of my twin gtx470 (those are CRAZY loud under load.. if anyone knows of a good gtx4XX waterblock kit, let me know please)

Yeah man! I've heard anywhere from 10-15 hours! So excited there's finally a shooter with a story.

This is what I expected from Homefront...then there was that whopping 4-5 hours campaign. Darnit.

You've sold me. I'm about to go take a ride out to GameStop and pick it up. Hopefully it lasts me until Socom 4

On a side note: 2011 has been KILLING my wallet. I'm sure my bank appreciates it though..

@nathan.... dude, get Gamefly. You won't regret it!

Honestly, I tried it out and it just wasn't for me. I'm the sorta person who gets a game and will play it for a couple days.. and shelf it for a month before playing it again.

Example.. I got dead space2 on launch day and just the other day played it for the second time since getting it. Just too sporadic and unpredictable *shifty eyes*

btw.. LOVING crysis 2 so far
