Topic: USB Flash Drive Error

I purchased a used PS4 today. When I got it home, I promptly pulled the 500 GB hard drive out and installed a 1 TB SSD. When I try to load it from a USB drive, it says 'The USB storage device is not connected.' I tried two different flash drives (one from Silicon Power, the other from ADATA). Both were formatted FAT32 (Master Boot Record), both had a folder called PS4, with a folder inside that one called UPDATE. The update file was downloaded to the folder.

Just wondering what else I can try. I have since installed some game data on the 500GB hard drive, but I want the SSD in there (I am presuming that I can back it up and restore it once I get the SSD situation figured out). If anyone knows any tips or tricks to get this work, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. The SSD in question is a Crucial MX200 - it works just fine.

Why would you need to restore a flash drive?

Who said anything about restoring a flash drive?? This is 100% about upgrading the internal drive on a PS4. The PS4 WILL NOT recognize the flash drive when it is plugged in (the flash drive is necessary, as it contains the operating system that will be installed on the new drive inside the PS4). I determined that the USB ports on the PS4 were defective. The system was sold (the USB port failure was notated), and a PS4 Pro was purchased to replace it.

Sometimes the memory wears out, sometimes the controller fails. And the USB controller drivers have nothing to do with it. In some cases, you can solve the problem yourself and, as a result, save the files on a flashcard or fix the chip, the device, ignoring the reading errors on the computer. If the flash drive does not open, perhaps you will like an effective program for restoring the flash drive and the information chip. I do not know which program to use because I did not do this. When my USB flash drive broke, I turned to specialists who quickly fixed it for me. And I have not encountered any problems.

Someone please lock this thread. No one who has responded ever bothered to completely read my original post. NOTHING they have posted pertains to the issue I was having.
