@Powerpellet it's not going to be, this article is wrong. If you read the patent, this is an attachment. It generalize that this tech could be to attach to any controller. The patent also only uses the dualshock 4 as an example and doesn't say anything about the dualshock 5. It also goes into detail how this tech and the peripheral is an idea how to change VR gameplay to help the users comfort.
@Ralizah it's not part of the controller itself, it's an attachment according to he patent. They patent also talks about it only being worthwhile to make if they can make it cheap so consumers will buy it, because unless people buy it, companies won't make content for it. In the patent they use the ds4 as the example it works with and doesn't mention the ds5 at all.
According to the patent this has nothing to do with the DS5. This patent clearly states its an attachment and it says in the illustrations that are in the patent, it's the ds4 with the attachment on it. It's far too late for new R&D for the ds5. The ds5 at this point should be already developed and ready for manufacturing.
