@Rich33 Sounds like it's been well worth it for you anyway. As you said there's been stuff you would've skipped if you were on the base ps5. Hoping ghost of yotei is a good experience on my base ps5!
@SeaDaVie Digital is digital, as you know they're all just uploading to a server. The site I mentioned is one of the very few officially licensed steam key resellers so it's the exact same as buying directly from steam. Do shopto sell physical games as well? They always have good prices but probably not worth it cause I'm in Ireland.
@Rich33 I think you're spot on there. Would say that's the mindset of most console players. They just think the pc stuff is nowhere near as convenient. I only have a 4070 super but for the most part my game experience is leagues ahead of my base ps5 experience. From what I've seen the pro seems to get good first party support but only ok third party support? How's your experience been with it?
@Ainu20 Yep I get ya. I was more just bemoaning the thought of it. God help us when they do as they're bad enough already and that's with the option to go physical.
@Gunbeld The example I used of silent hill f is sub 60 euro on green man gaming and 79.99 on the ps store for the standard edition? Yes they do bother looking for steam keys because they actually have the choice to and it takes a 2 second Google lol
@Ainu20 Yep as is the case now you can pay extra for a detachable one. Being able to go physical still doesn't change the overpricing going on in their store. Where are my posts coming from? They're just opinions on the overpriced ps store You have yours, I have mine.
@Lowdefal Of course there's the initial cost associated with building it. But you save money every day from there. No online sub to play online, way more sales and everything is just way way cheaper. Minimal patience? Lol. It takes a ***** age for digital ps games to go on sale for a decent price. The complete opposite of pc as console digital prices are so high to begin with. It's not even close. I'm eagerly awaiting ghost of yotei like most other people on here but don't have my head in the sand like some do when it comes to Sony's third party game prices. They're taking the piss and hoping nobody will notice
Sony are going to get a reality check when they move to an all digital future. When players are locked into their store and it's crazy pricing, they will start to look elsewhere. It might be over a few years but people will just migrate to pc. Better looking, performing and crucially cheaper third party games. All they have going for them is a few first party titles that end up coming to pc anyway. Silent hill f is 80 feckin quid on the ps store. Can get a steam key for under 60. People will start to realise it's a no brainer
Sod all first party as usual and very very little we didn't already know about. Another sop bust. When will Sony get it together? Absolute master fumblers
@RBMango Try this. Worked for me. Do all of this while the game pass pc app is closed. In windows go into settings/apps/installed apps/doom: the dark ages
Click the three dots on dark ages and reset it. It should then install properly and stop being stupid for no reason. Microsoft are utter morons.
You say it's not acceptable but then run nonsense articles on stuff like "disc rot" where you're arguing for digital. What part of being locked into one store that Sony controls being terrible does pushsquare not understand? Pc has been all digital for years with the crucial difference being you have tons of different places to get your game keys, not just one.
Pushsquare: You better stick to digital because your physical collection is falling apart haha. This is the biggest shill article for Sony I've ever seen. As soon as their next digital "sale" is on, I'm sure you'll be telling us all about it as usual lol
The biggest thing to sort it out with Bloodborne is the uneven frame pacing and dodgy performance. No point it looking better if it still runs the same. Fromsoft are such chancers when it comes to performance. They get by on their rep.
@fabio78 No I expect them to abandon any optimisation for base ps5 and focus more on the pro because that's the easier thing to do. Just like they did with the PS4 pro. There were tons of games that ran poorly after the the pro came out in the last generation. And all of this long before the power of the base ps5 has been utilized properly by their first party studios.
@riceNpea I'm happy for you that you're getting one. My issue isn't with that. I'm worried that because support from third party devs for their games was already severely lacking it's going to get a lot worse for the base ps5 after the pro release.
@Ravix My comment exists because we know support for the base ps5 was already abysmal from third party Devs and after the pro comes out it'll go completely in the bin.
@riceNpea When someone is paying a fortune for a mid gen refresh you sure as hell better get these qol upgrades. That's the bare minimum expectation here.
Isn't it a kick in the balls all these games are now getting patches which improve the experience immesurably? No more could be done for the base ps5 versions? Just give us 950 euro please for the privilege.
How is the frame rate on quality mode folks? Heard that there were dips and frame pacing issues that let it down a bit. I really want to pick it up but know I should wait it out for a better experience.
This looks quality. Will check out the digital foundry analysis of it for more on the tech side but the fact that the game itself is great is fantastic news
I'm going to have to accept the fact that these showcases are gonna feature an overwhelming amount of live service nonsense. Which ruins them for probably the rest of all time lol.
Same old story with games at launch. Release now patch later. It's not good enough. There's no good in looking forward to games on release day anymore because the majority are broken at launch.
Brilliant news. One of the most interesting games around launching day one on extra. This nearly makes up for the neverending list of ***** games they've put on plus lately!
@riceNpea Honestly I'd be shocked if they don't have the release now, patch later mentality. Nothing personal to them, it's just that it's taken over modern gaming. 90% of games in the AAA space are ***** at launch. Would love them to buck the trend. Out of all the big games releasing this year, I think the only one that will be brilliantly polished at launch will be astro bot. That's a sad state of affairs.
I feel like there's a lot going on with this and like the majority of games could be in rough shape at launch. Will probably look to pick it up after a few patches. They seem like they support their games very well which is a great thing.
@Atreus97 Yes starting to feel that way. A non stop conveyer belt of bland multiplayer ***** and piss all well crafted single player experiences. Feels like modern gaming in a nutshell.
We still have no clue what first party stuff is coming in 2025? My very low expectations were somehow still not met. If astro wasn't in there it would of been a complete write off

Re: Rumoured PS5 Showcase Seems Set for Next Week
Will we actually see some good first party at this one?
Re: Everyone's Talking About How Little Physical PS5 Games Contribute to Sony's Bottom Line
@Gunbeld Yeah my mistake didn't make that clear. When Sony set the price it's nearly always 80 on launch as well

@colonelkilgore 100%. Next time they try and shove the "single player games are dying" narrative down our throats we can remind them of this.

@Ainu20 I know right. If only most of the modern engines were as flexible as something like idtech. Then we'd all be onto a winner.
Re: Hands On: Black Myth: Wukong Is Brilliant, But We Have PS5 Concerns
@Ainu20 Yep ue5 is too demanding for this console gen. Huge cutbacks have to be made to get performance to where it needs to be.
