It was always going to go through, but if Playstation hadn't contested the acquisition, then Microsoft would definitely have made them exclusive to the xbox platform, just like they have done with Bethesda games. When the 10 year contracts are up they will for sure go exclusive. That price increase is going to come to gamepass sooner rather than later, because that's $69 Billions gotta be paid back somehow.
