A better, and more apt, headline for this might be "EA refuses to make money on anything other than microtransactions" or "EA is still one of the worst gaming companies around, here's why". Just my own thought.
Is this a mobile game? Doesn't seem like a Home console release due out in 2025 or beyond.
Also, what part of this game even hints at the title and it's allusions to something more than run and gun?
@Colour It was supposed to be a trilogy, but the sales weren't up to the publisher's liking so they didn't continue with the second game. The very very wide open ending shows how much they had planned on continuing the franchise.
6 for me, maybe lower. The difficulty is just not present in the current version, maybe they will be able to up that in the coming months, but it is way too easy for any MH vet (my opinion) and the battles with large monsters should be more difficult.
The ease of access in Wilds makes it perfect for newcomers, but it does a good job of hanging those that are NOT new to the franchise out to dry with the level of hand-holding at present.
The game is very pretty, but it has taken the need for any kind of prep for a battle to the lowest tier possible and made it so easy that you only need to restock your items and throw the strength and weakness chart to the wind. Wanna kill a lightning based monster, just be sure to have plenty of Potions and Mega potions since it won't make a difference what weapon buffs or armour buffs you might have, you can still take it down like rusty scaffolding.
My rant about the short-comings at the current version got a bit long-winded there.
The good thing about this title is the amount of new players it has opened the franchise up to, people that have hated earlier iterations of the game. It has "streamlined" the collection process and does a decent job of introducing new players to some of the nuances of the variety of weapons in the game. I hope that it piques the interest of these newcomers and draws them to revisit older titles and become even better hunters.
@DennisReynolds Fully agree with you on this one. The UI is just not good imo and the challenge is really not there. The moves of the monsters are slow and they broadcast them for a full 20 seconds before even executing them. It's pretty, but not pretty difficult. I feel like the difficulty was a purposeful design choice to try and draw in more newcomers to the franchise. It does feel very much geared towards someone who has never played a game in the franchise before, from the rapid auto-heal that your palico gives you during battle to the the lack of need to even look at the environment when you are on your Seikret (basically auto-pilot), it just feels very entry level and that isn't bad. Let's get more hunters in here and have a bigger community of players that are growing together in this fun franchise. I'm sure there are much more tenuous battles coming to the game and I'm just gonna keep on enjoying the parts of it that I do enjoy and level on up.
@colonelkilgore Couldn't agree with you more. It seems as though Xbox Execs see the same thing and that's why they are bringing their titles to both Nintendo and potentially Sony platforms now. We might just see them become something akin to Sega, but possibly selling their "Game Pass" as something for PC, Sony, and even Nintendo in the upcoming Gen.
Sorry for the late reply, didn't ever see your response.
So, just curious... are we far enough away from the Phantom Menace's release to not mention that Pod Racer that I saw in this trailer, or still too close? Because that was most definitely the inspiration for that vehicle.
Tested this out with multiple games on offer last night and I must say, they finally did it! The cloud streaming feature makes this into the accessory I wanted it to be at launch. My kids use the PS5 to stream shows... a lot. This puts me in the position of not getting to play my ps5 due to it's streaming use, but while they stream a show I can use my Portal to play a game and we can all be in the same room together. Love this Feature and I hope to see it grow!
I wanted to like this beta, but only dropped a small amount of time into it and wasn't ever drawn back to it to try it more. Sad, since I love MH games and this one just didn't feel fun at all to me. Guess I'll just stick with Rise and World for the time being. Maybe with some post-release updates it will grow on me. I did note "beta" in my first sentence to show that I realize this was an early build and not the final product.
@Colour I fully understand. Don't go buy the game again if you know it doesn't fit, but if you still have it... try out lots of weapons and practice with them in the hub.
@LunarFlame17 There is so much truth in your statement! The 360 was the last vestige of enjoyability for me. I have a series S, but mostly just to go back and play some 360 titles I enjoyed.
@Colour I had the same problem until Tri, shockingly on the Wii. I really had to dive deep into the game and try every weapon, which felt like a slog, but I finally found my stride and began to enjoy the game. Now it is one of my favorite franchises. I main the Insect Glaive after MH4 and it never seems tanky with that weapon or some of the other lighter weapons, i.e. charge shield in Sword&Shield form, Sword & Shield, Dualies, Light Bowgun. It took a long time to find the right weapon for me, but I found it and really enjoy the game now. I do understand just not being able to get into it though. I have that with lots of games these days.
Really looking forward to this game, but it has that sneaking feeling of being more akin to MH:World than anything else and that game fell off rather quickly for me. It did a lot of cool stuff in the beginning, but just fell flat for me. I still jump into it every now and then, but not like Rise/Sunbreak; they brought me back to the series with some great new gameplay mechanics and locales.
I've been playing this game on my Steamdeck for almost a year and I love it. It can get a bit annoying after long runs and being killed by some tiny little enemy that got a cheap shot, but it is a lot of fun! Also, I can't say that I ever experienced any notable stutters on Steamdeck. Might double dip on this one though!
They could just make a small device that fits on the Portal and allows you to use some proprietary "SD" card( jab at PSP/Vita memory things) to download games for offline play and it would allow them to release an updated "Portal" model with this same type of feature just built into it.
But this is just a rumor and with the Portal's very recent release, it seems a bit far fetched.
This sounds like Palworld being boxed and sold as Pokemon, it kinda seems like it could be related to Dune, but really it's just a cocktail napkin interpretation of the cliff's notes of Dune. NOPE!

@RolyTheBeerGeek Same. Was this a real game or is this just some made up nonsense?

Re: Poll: So, Is Monster Hunter Wilds 'Too Easy'?
@Overmind Base world was very close to this easy and remains easier than Rise to this day.

@Kidfunkadelic83 I feel the same about Wilds. It just didn't feel like Monster Hunter to me. Very bland without depth.
