People saw different gameplay elements in the trailers and expected the game to be what THEY wanted it be. I saw a space exploration game, where I could fly from planet to planet, observing, collecting, enjoying each as it was created. And that's what it turned out to be IMO.
Others wanted Destiny style combat, or Star Wars style dogfighting, or hardcore RPG trading and upgrading. Who knows what the future updates hold? Maybe they'll tighten the controls and add improved combat mechanics, or ship customisation, or NPC missions and quests.
Yes it's repetitive, but so is COD, most RPG'S, and Mario games. Destiny is one of the most repetitive games there is. Everyone has the same few guns, new enemies are just old designs with new colours, and you rinse and repeat the same missions. Every game is not for everyone.
This is my favourite game this year. I'm intrigued by space, planets, etc, in real life and this game fulfils the space explorer in me. Its not perfect but I didn't go in expecting everything I seen in the trailer. They did say this is a procedural game and everyone will see something different.
The game isn't disappointing. Those that are disappointed expected too much.
I find this trophy list boring. They could have done so much with this list. For example, fly to another planet without using hyper speed or warp, walk around a planet, explore a whole planet.
I read that he visited about 100 planets on his travels, which would mean he spent less than 30 minutes on each planet. And he used a resource glitch to bypass all the good stuff. Plus he hasn't finished the game, he's only reached the centre of the galaxy he started in
After taking a peek at the 26mins of leaked gameplay, I have to say this has increased my hype. I can see myself playing this game for hundreds, even thousands, of hours. You could spend hours on just one planet. Not going to watch anymore leaked videos, as what I've seen is enough to know that it's gonna be a wide ride.
@chris730920 I've already planned to get to bed early so I can get up and play from midnight. Once I start the game there's no way I'll be pausing or quiting the game for a few days.
Cannot wait for this game. Haven't been this hyped since Red Dead Redemption. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I love sci-fi, space exploration (both in game and real life), and the art direction looks amazing. I'm guessing the combat won't be as intense as the common Fps, but this is more of an survival/exploration game. I can see this game being the type that once you complete the story/reach the centre of the universe, you'll continue playing for years, switching on randomly, discovering new planets for fun.
Not too bothered with the free games over the next few months. If anything special is given away free I'll add it to my library, but I have a feeling I'll be addicted to No Man's Sky for the next few months/years.
I think this is my most hyped game now, overtaking when Red Dead Redemption was released. I can seriously see myself clocking up thousands of hours of gametime, just flying around looking at other planets, not even landing on them. Just flying low over the planet, letting nature run its course.
I was looking forward to this when it was first announced, as Tomb Raider 2013 was an amazing game. But with No Man's Sky releasing in 3 weeks, i doubt i'll have time to play anything else before i die in about 60 years.

Funny thing is, more NMS uploads have appeared on YouTube from other gamers, and no one's removing them (Sony or Hello Games).
