@NotSoCryptic Invite systems? Platinum trophies are the magic button I'm talking about obviously. They're not something that takes effort to implement, especially when you already have trophies, and they don't change gameplay because it just pops alongside your last trophy.
My suggestion is that trophy hunters will only cost them money, by straining their servers and bailing the moment they pop. That doesn't help at all. Your absence is a net benefit.
@NotSoCryptic And yet not every game benefits from every feature. Nobody makes an entire game and then can't "be bothered" to click a magic button that brings in players.
They probably just don't think players like you will add to the health of the community.
@thefourfoldroot1 But I don't think a community built on people that are playing for reasons other than the game is one worth celebrating. Games with big drop-off don't do well either, and it'll certainly be reported on negatively. Let alone the strain I mentioned earlier, it's not unheard of for games to scale up their servers to facilitate a player base that doesn't stick around - that's a financial loss no matter which way you slice it.
@thefourfoldroot1 As @AFCC says it's how a lot of people decide to move on from a game they've "completed." A hard platinum in an online game is largely ignored, and an easy one invites trophy hunters that will put strain on the service at launch and immediately drop it once they pop it.
Platinums are trivial to implement, so it's clear they are happy to discourage the kinds of players that feel "disrespected" by the decision in favour of letting the game live or die on its own merits, which I think is respectable.
@MightyDemon82 I tried Narita Boy a little while ago but couldn't get into it, the controls felt so clunky. Does it get better with an expanded moveset or does it largely play the same throughout?
@Northern_munkey I happen to think denigrating popular/mainstream media is snobbery even if I agree with it, and indulging in conversation on it by discussing what is "respectable" is smug. You don't have to agree (as you say it's another opinion one is "allowed" to have), but that doesn't make me a troll.
@Ichiban Because most people don't mind the Game Pass model and are happy something like Extra is on PlayStation.
The people you're criticising are those that take any opportunity to hype up a meaningless rivalry even when it's not relevant (in case I'm not being clear it's you, you're criticising yourself).

@Ludacritz Engagement with whom exactly? The people who won't bother wouldn't ever have been sustained players anyway.

Re: Third-Person View Makes Helldivers 2 More Immersive, Better Game Feel
I exclusively enjoyed the original for its local coop and we had a few good game nights out of it.
The sequel could be excellent, but they removed the only reason I'd want to buy it so I'll never know.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown?
@JohntheRaptor The PS2 trilogy were sequesl/spinoffs...
Re: Sony Hit with French Fine for Allegedly Manipulating PS4 Controller Market
@TheCollector316 If there is an aftermarket economy built around the sale of your device then it should be held to the same standards that others are.
Re: Sony Hit with French Fine for Allegedly Manipulating PS4 Controller Market
@NinjaNicky Except once I buy it it's MY device, not theirs.
Re: PlayStation Reveals Most Played Games of 2023 by Region, Is Basically a Waste of Time
@guntam Indeed I must have poorly analysed because I believed your first comment to be contentious. Glad to see we're on the same page.

Re: PlayStation Reveals Most Played Games of 2023 by Region, Is Basically a Waste of Time
@guntam If you're happy and proud of it then it's odd that you would take umbrage at your self-confessed sense of superiority being called smug.
Re: PlayStation Reveals Most Played Games of 2023 by Region, Is Basically a Waste of Time
@guntam Yes I think calling what's popular "mindless slop" is being pretty smug. I'm glad you can rise above the brainless masses.
And yes, your reply is the epitome of what I was talking about, super-satisfying to read thank you.
Re: PlayStation Reveals Most Played Games of 2023 by Region, Is Basically a Waste of Time
@Northern_munkey Yes exactly, so we're back to where we were before you commented at all. Thanks.

@Northern_munkey You must be reading different comments then, or more likely reading them differently.
Re: PlayStation Reveals Most Played Games of 2023 by Region, Is Basically a Waste of Time
Good work PushSquare on creating a lightning rod for people to feel smug, it's made for an amusing comment section.
