I was excited for CrossCode but that's because I didn't know what to expect. I wish people would stop saying that it's really good, this game needs to come with a warning. I played 11hrs and this is a total nightmare for me. The amount of puzzles is way too much, even the town area is a puzzle. For how cute and cozy it looks it's a very complicated game and it's not fun or enjoyable at all.
For choices of the main reason I would skip the launch, maybe it's just me but I need to know if the controllers are durable. If they're going to need replacement as often as the PS5 controller and no options to use a simpler more reliable controller then I will have no interest.
@ShogunRok is the chattiness, talking from an NPC, as obnoxious and constant as I previously read about the demo? I know there was supposed to be a setting that you can turn it down. I personally find a very chattyNPC / tips / tutorials mostly redundant, offensive and downright ridiculous when it constantly interupts and treats you like a toddler., it tends to assume nobody has every played a video game before. And assumes that because you've never played a video game before you must also have an incredibly low IQ.
I have been creeping this website for a couple years now and I only recently created a profile so that I could comment. I am often a very disagreeable person when it comes to what's a fun and enjoyable game but I enjoy the work done here, always lots of daily informative articles. I did however notice an article by Robert Ramsey, and I have always been a Square Enix fan and I found that writing style and opinion well articulated with my own feelings and so, keep up the good work.
I was expecting Rebirth to get added to Ps Plus eventually. I had such bad luck with Square Enix games, my entire Square Enix collection of games they were all added to Ps Plus at some point. Then I held out for Rebirth and I still haven't played it... Because I know that if I do buy it then by the laws of the universe it will get added to Ps Plus soon after I buy it.
My personal advice would be use the Elder Scolls IP and make a cozy stand alone adventure game that anyone can enjoy. Make a unique story for a dark elf character, gain exp, no skill tree.
Powering up skills is good. Too many extra personalized or experiental choices is bad.
Scatter some stronger elemental weapons around to find from secrets and puzzles then that's what the player builds on.
Find something cool then try to equip gear to make it stronger. Not an overabundance of convoluted percentage modifiers. Just a simple more damage for fire, or more damage for ice.
Players should be able to recognize if something is an upgrade without having to use a spreadsheet.
This way you also take the focus away from streamers because the player is engaged and able to play and enjoy the game for themselves. You only look up a guide if you're stuck on a puzzle or something quick.
You don't need some massive undertaking that takes over 9 years to make a hit game.
To me it's very obvious, I am part of the mature audience and I can't even play most games they're just too complicated. I couldn't play Starfield for more than 2 hours, that was too complicated. In that case a person might become dependant on a streamer to figure it out then showcase what the game might look like if more people could figure it out and actually have fun.
Thanks I may look in to this, I was overwhelmed at the thought of doing the soldering myself but it never occured to me that the service/part could be cheaper.
I answered Crimson Desert prematurely. It's actually far too complicated and I stopped enjoying it once the euphoria wore off, I just feel dumb and get stuck on every tutorial still not knowing what to do.
This is well written, it says what I was thinking. I couldn't quite identify at the time what I didn't like about FFXVI when I bought it day one. I never know what to expect from a new Final Fantasy and this one I still enjoyed but I did have higher expectations.
If the online games didn't feel like MTX traps they might appeal to a broader audience. A flat subscription is better than the illusion of "free" with no cap to how much they try to bleed dry the die-hard players, as they do have an online subscription they just pretend it's optional but it really isn't. It just feels deceptive.
Don't forget how bad these controllers get stick drift and essentially broken after 400hrs. I am very sour about how many of these controllers I have needed to replace because stick drift drives me absolutely mental.
