I know this is pedantic, but how are the fourth through sixth entries in a franchise, referred to in this review as “the concluding tryptich”, the first chapter?
Yeah, this isn’t a real game. Not because it looks too good to be true or anything, but if the best you have to show 7 years in is a training session and a poorly designed boss fight, both in big, empty arenas (all done with what look like off the shelf UE5 assets) it just is not happening.
"Creators shouldn't let their life experiences inform choices when it comes to writing characters" has got to be one of the wildest takes I've ever read. To use Spielberg as an example just calcifies how clueless he is. As if Spielberg's family life and divorce haven't reverberated through almost every film he's ever made.
How does Embracer get to refer to themselves as a leader in the industry? Besides buying a bunch of studios and closing several of those, what exactly have they contributed?
While I like the idea of having a huge catalogue of games, the reality is that I have a relatively limited amount of time to play, and I don't really rush. Aside from a two month break to play Ragnarok, I've been on my first Elden Ring play through since September of last year. I only put about 2-3 hours in per week on average and have a huge back catalogue as it is.
