@IntrepidWombat In the original you had to grind to get AP for materia with no content just fighting over and over. Also catch, breed and race chocobos extensively to get a gold chocobo to get knights of the round. Games shouldnt make side content irrelevant to getting stronger. You can skip the side content or you can do it in the same way you used to grind on monsters only it is objectively better and less brainless than that.
@IntrepidWombat Well the original you had to grind if you were bad. I don't want side content that has no rewards relevant to main combat systems. The original locked most powerful materia behind long sidequest and this is a remake of that game so side content should be rewarding. You should just quit FF if you dont want to do side activities to unlock ultimate weapons and rare materia rather than twist a beloved franchise into a diet version of itself.
We're about to get an airship so I hope it's not too reined in. This is the part of the game that should get the secret bosses and hidden locations to unlock materia. I hope they just focus on quality and making it organic to discover as I think the magic can get lost when the side content feels cookie cutter or box ticking. Rare weapons should not be sold in shops.
To be honest they probably also need to learn how such a small team made something that looks so good.
But yes this is probably a good sign that they want to reconnect a bit with why there was this groundswell of feeling.
I do happen to think SE havent lost their way recently. It was the XIII trilogy era that did where people lost hope as they spat out unwanted sequels. The fact they do this invite makes me think they're still on the up.
@parkerdip i dont mind more expensive pricing points but I think its stupid to do on more niche games particularly ones that havent proved themselves. Like Mario Kart, GTA, Zelda, Final Fantasy have earnt it. You need reputation, existing audience or hype to command high price points.
There's an upcoming section in part 3 with Tifa and Cloud that I am so hyped to see. For me that section just swings it so completely to Tifa who just seems to be there for him unconditionally. It's also one I am really hoping they deliver on as it is the peak of the story in the original.
I think most people who played know what I'm referring to.
Not a huge fan of silent protagonists if there are no dialogue choices. However, I really like them in games like Skyrim, DA:O or Persona 5 and Baldur's Gate 3 where you can basically define your character and make dialogue choices. Like I think Witcher 3 and Mass Effect close down options through forcing a written and voiced character on you. Dragon Quest does not do this well however and a voiced protagonist woukd be fine.
@Ralizah Mmm based on the quality of recent Berhesda I think theyre past their prime. Most people prefer FO3 to 4 and Skyrim is 10 years old. Even Doom vs Infinite - I think the sequel was received less well. Same for Wolfenstein. Arkanes output is getting boring. Lastly i thought the same thing about Rare in the 90s. Havent heard anything good out of Obsidian either since their acquisition.

I have the physical deluxe editions as a big fan but this is a good deal.
Re: People Don't Buy Anywhere Near As Many Games As You Think
I buy a lot of games but I definitely slowed down recently. I've put 1 a month but it varies a lot.

Re: Red Dead Redemption PS4 Announcement Gets Slaughtered by Fans
They make more than enough money to put some level of effort in. Im glad its coming to Switch though.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 DLC Is Now an Option Being Considered by Square Enix
Maybe a DLC filling in the time skips with alternative player character.
Re: Poll: Do You Want Even More PS5 Marvel Games from Sony?
Would love an Iron Man game. It would pair well with an upgrades system
