Re: Starfield's PS5 Release Seems Practically Inevitable at This Point

Llamageddon

@evan23 unfortunately the hate is fairly proportionate to massive amounts of hype pre release (looking at you Todd). So this game had to be the sci-fi equivalent of Skyrim or it was gonna get piled on. It did not meet those lofty expectations. As many have echoed 'as wide as an ocean, as deep as a puddle' Todd needs to learn that more doesn't mean better.

Re: More God of War PS5 Details Leak, Out in 2027 with New Protagonist

Llamageddon

@DartLOD I don't think all your examples are a case of lack of creativity.
Witcher 4 - Ciri is kind of the main character anyway in the grand scheme of things so it makes sense.
Ghost of yotei - This is seemingly a 'ghost of' series, so the protagonist will probably change in all/most entries just like AC
Last of us 2 - was a big narrative swing which divided the fan base
Hades 2 - the theme was about family so the sequel being a different family member makes sense
Haven't played the Alan wake games so can't comment.

I'm not sure about the choice of main protagonist for this new GOW game but to echo others sentiments I do believe Santa Monica deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

Llamageddon

@Nepp67 I agree that Miyazaki has every right to protect his art and I respect that. If it turns out that he did in fact 'block' the remake whilst simultaneously saying the ball was in Sony's court, it certainly doesn't paint him in the best light.
To be honest though as a cynic I don't believe anyone's versions of these events as all parties involved have an agenda.

Re: PS5's Retro God of War Game Gets the Worst Reviews in the Series

Sons of Sparta - 69 Meta - £25
Silksong - 90 Meta - £16
Memories In Orbit - 83 Meta - £20

Disclaimer, I know Metacritic has it's issues and should not be considered the be all and end all but it still provides a metric nonetheless.

The problem is in a crowded genre like metroidvania you need to stand out or be competitive, so I provided examples of a couple of recent entries in the genre. SoS simply is underwhelming given it's IP on all fronts and that's before you get into the easily avoidable multiplayer nonsense that has surrounded this release.

Re: PS5's First State of Play of 2026 Tipped for Later This Week

Llamageddon

@Boxmonkey aren't you making an assumption yourself. Most bought a PS5 expecting Sony's gaming output to be similar to PS4, I for one bought a PS5 because that is where my games library is and I prefer the ps controller.
I personally go into every generation expecting thousands of games most of which I'm not interested in, but still plenty from first, second and third party that I do want to play and enjoy.
So I don't think people will be put off buying a ps6 because Sony are producing a handful of games they aren't really into, when there will be infinite other games to play including all Xbox games moving forward.

Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away

Llamageddon

Not for me but there are some really puerile comments here. The need to bring up concord on every gaas related comment section is embarrassing. Yes Sony's gaas push will have more failures than successes but I'm sure they knew that to begin with, they only need a couple to succeed.
I expect this and Marathon to have moderate success (enough to at least make back dev costs) and I hope money made from these games is put back into making high quality single player games.
The fact is mmo/gaas is big business even if that doesn't reflect the sentiments/preferences of people with profiles on here.
The ironic thing I've heard people say on here is that those who only play FIFA, Cod, Fortnite aren't really gamers and yet whilst you whinge on websites like these they are probably spending their time actually gaming.

Re: Yakuza's Makers Have Made Another Unforced Error

Llamageddon

So you can still buy it until Feb 12th, it been out for over 6 years (almost certainly would have had some deep discounts in that time) and it will still be available as part of a bundle after Feb 12th.

Yes they could have been more consumer friendly and some other publishers have gone a different route by not delisting older/different versions of their games.

But... given the challenges the gaming industry is currently facing such as AI implementation, layoffs, longer development cycles etc... I just don't see many people losing sleep over this.

Re: Amazon's God of War TV Series Casts Its Kratos, Story Setup Revealed

Llamageddon

@nessisonett fair enough, still doesn't change his canonical background though.
Hardly the first time this kind of thing has happened, Darth Vader was voiced by James earl Jones, but the body double and actor (the actor looking nothing like the body double) were both white.
I just hope this guy does a good job to be honest

Re: Hellblade Dev Plotting a More Gameplay Focused Successor, Presumably for PS5

Llamageddon

I think for people hoping for an audio/visual experience then hellblade is one of the best in class. For those wanting a more traditional gaming experience they probably found it a bit short, shallow and unsatisfying.

Hellblade seems to occupy this unique space between tech demo and fully fledged game.

Genuinely surprised they are continuing with the series as I don't think it moves the needle in any way and I've never heard of anyone clamouring for more.

Re: Silent Hill Producer Aims to Release One New Game Per Year

Llamageddon

@iNightfarer I agree with your original comment that the cadence of releases they're suggesting would have an impact on quality control. Silent hill simply doesn't need to be a yearly release type of game.
As for your belief that good reviews don't equal good games, what metric do you use? Do you believe all the reviewers that gave it good score have poor taste, or do you believe the reviews were paid for?
As a physician training in psychiatry you ought to know the difference between a fact and opinion.

Re: Sony Controlling More of Marathon Dev Bungie, Will Be Integrated into PS Studios

Llamageddon

@IOI somewhat of a false equivalence, destiny has a large player base who will at the very least be intrigued by marathon. Concord was a brand new IP from an unknown studio.
I don't expect it to be the next big thing nor do I think it will flop and be cancelled within a year.
I haven't seen much hype men to be honest, far more comments about arc raiders being a better looking game.
Lots of hyperbole and cynicism to be found though.

Re: Rumour: Sony Engineers Allegedly Helping Rockstar Achieve 60fps in GTA 6 on PS5 Pro

Llamageddon

@nomither6 Honestly my knowledge in regards to the difficulty of game development is super limited. So any answer I give would be ignorant at best.
I play a lot of indie games and frame rates have never particularly irked me nor have I found a game that runs at 30fps to be 'unplayable' as some here suggest.
Each to their own though, I prefer to focus on the things I enjoy about this hobby. Life's too short

Re: 2,800+ PS5, PS4 Games Going Cheap in New PS Store Summer Sale

Llamageddon

I agree with others about stellar blade. I'm sure it's a good game, I'm not sure if it's for me. So I'm gonna wait 50% off or until I forget it exists, whichever happens first.

Lies of p with expansion is very tempting though, especially now that it has difficulty settings.

Will probably pick up Lego Harry Potter as well as my wife has been looking for a fun local co-op game and it's at a great price point.

Re: Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann Has an Intergalactic LEGO Set, And So Could You

Llamageddon

@LogicStrikesAgain I think a lot of people liked it and have faith in the team to produce a great game. The difference being, those who didn't like it need everyone to know they didn't like it as a mask for espousing their own socio-political grievances.
Personally I liked the trailer, but I will reserve judgement for the game till we see a decent chunk of gameplay.
