They didn't add gyro aim to Doom the Dark Ages on PS5. As this is a automatic no purchase for me. No gyro, no buyro!!!
These devs of 1st & 3rd person shooters keep missing the memo that gamers want quality implemented motion sensor aim (gyro aim) on consoles. They keep losing sales for it. The games that have it always end up with more people purchasing. You don't want my money. Fine! You won't get it. Nobody wants to scrubby stick aim anymore.
@PuppetMaster For sure! I've done so. Thank you! I just believe if you have to sacrifice accessibility and preferences for "balance reasons." That's not the right compromise.
The devs at Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment didn't include gyro aim on PS5 as a option in Space Marine 2. That is a bad decision and creates a significant accessibilty and preference issues for many on Playstation 5. People buy consoles based on the features they support and in some cases need. We expect to be able to use them. Accessibility and preference, should never be denied. Especially, in a major release like this.
I know we are going crossplay with XBOX in Space Marine 2 and their controller doesn't support gyro. However, we chose PS5. We should be able to use the features marketed to us on our platform when applicable. Gyro aim, is applicable to Space Marine 2. XBOX controllers limitation shouldn't be able to dictate our controllers innovation. I bought a Playstation 5 to have access to gyro aim with a DualSense Edge controller. I should be able to access the features my controller is capable of. That I bought expecting to use. This is absolutely wrong!
The game might be great. However, PS5 owners being shut out of applicable features and accessibility, while PC players can fully use a PS5 controller in this game and be able to gyro aim. Yet, we PS5 owners cannot use a PS5 controller to gyro aim on a Playstation 5 is absolutely unacceptable. I hope the devs or SONY themselves make the needed changes. Taking care of Playstation 5 owners and their reasonable and legitimate needs.
This is great to express satisfaction and dissatisfaction with a game. Even if it's small at least it'd another way to be heard. I took the last hour or so to rate every game I have in my library. This will be part of my games played process. When I finish them or am finished with them rate it!
I got this Quake II: Remaster on PS5. I overall love it buuuuut. It's got some issues.
1. I'm a gyro aiming enthusiasts (lexclusively a proficient motion aim user). I exclusively use gyro aim in shooters that support it to a quality standard. If a game doesn't have it, my motto is "no gyro no buyro" (on consoles anyways). While, this game has serviceable gyro aim and I'm grateful its there. It is lacking one serious key feature for it. That is a deadzone adjustment slider for the gyro aiming. So, the player can raise or lower the deazone for themselves to get a tighter feel. Based on thier sensitivity and other factors. Quake II Remaster has a atrocious deadzone while using gyro aim that can't be adjusted currently. Which is unfortunate.
While the deadzone is probably okay for novice user who just sees it as a silly gimmick and doesnt know the powerful tool it can be if correctly optimized and dialed in by the player to have a tight 1:1 accurate feel. That allows you to go head to head w/ mouse and keyboard users directly without the need for aim assist when implemented correctly. The deadzone in this game for gyro is so bad it hinders that feel as you cannot make micro adjustments while aiming becauseof this issue. It just won't pick it up. I've learned to play around the deadzone which is annoying because gyro should be a 1:1 feel for the player. Becaulse of this deadzone you may not be able to put your hands where they want to go naturally. Which makes it feel a bit less responsive than it should even with aim smoothing off. A lot of gyro users are frustrated by it, including myself. You have to think about hand placement more than you should. Instead of mainly focusing on the action and enjoying it. I still think it works okay, but a deadzone adjustment slider or scale would really let gyro users skilled and unskilled have a better experience. I still win lots of PvP though. Even with the gimped gyro that's currently in the game. Many gyro players are complaining about this.
Problem 2: No dedicated servers. People start losing get salty and quit. The whole lobby instantly shutdown if that player was the host. There should be a few dedicated servers.
Problem 3. Left handed players such as myself cannot switch the look stick to the left stick. I had to go into system settings on PS5 and swap things around. Should be a standard feature by now. There are plenty of lefties that play shooters and videogames in general. Quake II as a remaster should have this.
Also, the game should allow you to set the crosshair type for each individual weapon. As it stands right now. The game supports many crosshairs. It only let's you select one and uses it for every weapon you pick up. I found I like different crosshairs for different weapons. As it was more visually satisfying and put the weapon type in better perspective for me. this should be added in.
As far as the campaign goes. It was all pretty fun. The new campaign "Call of the Machine" I enjoyed, but sometimes enemies felt hella spongey and it dragged on a bit. I like the quicker weapon swap though. That should be implemented across the entire game. Waiting for weapons to fully cool down before changing them is annoying especially in PvP modes.
@Broosh I feel the same I was hoping for quality gyro aiming on ps5. That's my favorite way to play any kind of shooter omn console when it's done correctly. They just ignored it. I can't go back to thumbstick aim assist aiming. I refuse to spend money to be forced to play that way. I'll wait for a sale ir maybe never. Game looks great otherwise though.
I would have gotten it if they had added high quality gyro aiming. I refuse to go back to traditional 23 year old thumbstick aim assisted aiming. It's outdated and less fun imo. Gyro Aiming when done correctly is a blast faster and more accurate than sticks alone. I can't bring myself to buy shooters or aim related games with out my now favorite way to play shooters on console. I played Deathloop on PS5 and monster hunter rise all nite instead of buying Dead Space Remake because I love shooting with quality gyro using my DS5 controller. There's no going back for me. He'll even calisto protocol had a serviceable version of gyro aim. No excuse anymore for it not to be a option in console shooters. Fortnite set a huge standard for how to implement it. At least Deathloop and a few other games got the message. At the very least its a accessibility feature that shouldn't be ignored.
Looks decent, I'll pass and buy on sale maybe. Would have been a day one purchase if it had quality gyro aiming. I refuse to go back to thumbstick aim assist shooting after learning and playing with quality gyro aiming. When done right it is amazing faster, and more accurate for shooters on consoles. Even calisto protocol had it and it work decent for that game. Deathloop, Fortnite, Splatoon 3, BOTW, God of War Ragnarok have spoiled me with excellent gyro aiming experiences. I just can't buy a console shooter ir gane with aiming without it. I'm sorry but I can't. It's too good.
