the more you complain about this, the more our future looks like fortnites battlefields and call of dutys; lower budget projects with repeat editions every year.
Complaining about paying money for a game that took these guys years and so much effort and talent and focus to make, is NOT going to make them say “hey, lets spend more money on these, but give them away for free”
all they are going to do is try to find ways to spend LESS money on projects and generate more money. this is business. We live in a capitalist society its how it will always be.
No one is going to spend more, to make less.its just logic.
Microsoft are a ginormous company that is now pulling money from its other avenues and investing it into its gaming projects. They are constantly in the red with stuff like game pass. They only do it because it for PR, and they are trying to run the industry, and know people will make articles like this, its doesnt matter if they kill the industry in the end, they aren’t thinking about that. If microsoft didnt have incredibly strong competition, game pass would not be 14.99 and as strong as it is.
The future with all this complaining and spoiledness just looks like a future of Games-as-a-service and Fortnite microtransations, or lower budget projects to me. Im sure no smaller companies want to risk anything on a ghost of tsushima or last of us 2 scale project with all the complaning, at this point. i wouldnt for godsake. Imagine making a large scale game as a small company like bend did with days gone, and having ppl complaing about having to pay for a dlc that they worked day and nite on when Sony doesnt even want to even give financial support for them to make a sequel for the game because it didnt sell enough. jesus. Frustrating life for these developers man.

As they were working on the ps5 upgrade, they were still getting paid to do that, So even though assets were already there, they were still getting paid for that. CEOs still hav to pay their developers.
and for the next two years while they work on another game before that even makes any profit, they need their salary.

I see what you’re saying about the assets, but the rest, I Don’t agree. I dont see how this is “nickel and diming” people when those people got the game for free on ps plus and didnt pay a cent. If you purchased the game, you still get your free upgrade.
I feel like this should be more of a “microsoft is really generous” thing, and less of a “sony is terrible for not giving you everything for free”, thing.
Like, when did it become crime for a business thats trying to run a business charges for its products so it can make money, like a business. I dont understand l, id love to hav everything for free but thats not how the world works. The people who make these games for you need to eat.
Sony is not “pushing” anyone to do anything and they sure as hell aint trying to hurt anyone for charging $69 for a project they just spent 300 million on and spent years making. microsofts proposition is insanely generous and thats not something you can ask every company to do, its not really plausible.
