Re: Preview: Why 007 First Light Is the Most Exciting Game of 2026

Despite the differences highlighted in the article, it seems like this is basically Hitman 4, but with a James Bond skin. I don't mind, since I love the Hitman series, but I don't think this is necessarily a 007 game except by the game title. I guess if you like Hitman games, then you'll like Hitman 4, oh sorry, 007 First Light. If you're not a fan of Hitman games, then you'll probably not like Hitman 4, oh sorry, Agent 47: First Light, oh wait, what was this game called again?

Re: Sony Pictures Seemingly Done with Terrible Spider-Man Spin-Off Flicks

The primary reason behind Sony Pictures churning out mediocre Spiderman films is because of a little known contract between Sony Pictures and Marvel, which was signed when Marvel was still struggling to gain a foothold on the movie business. Sony got the Spiderman IP and could retain it as long as they made a movie every x years. So that's what Sony did. Quality didn't matter since over time, the value of the Spiderman IP, along with other Marvel IP grew tremendously over the years. The cost of making mediocre filma was worth it to retain the valuable IP. This is also the reason why you didn't see any crossover between Spiderman and other Marvel characters, which is very odd, unless you know about this contract. I think Sony and Marvel renegotiated this contract so there may be crossoversnin the future and Sony is "released" from having to churn out mediocre Spiderman movies to retain the IP.

Re: Sony: It's Massively Important PS Studios Develops Games in Various Genres

This is the same Hermen Hulst who gushed profusely about how he was so impressed with Firewalk Studios and their Concord live service game, which led to Sony aquiring them. Yeah, that Concord game turned out great, Hermen. He gushed profusely about Haven Studios and Fairgame$ live service, which led to Sony aquiring them. We'll see how that turns out. Hermen Hulst is gushing about Asobi and Astro Bot but thankfully, that studio was part of Sony long before Hermen came into Sony, but he'll take credit for that, why not. This guy has a mixed track record.

I don't understand how this will work for some trophies which require multiple steps. Take Hitman games where the complex setups are the most important part of an assassination and the actual kill is just a simple button press. However, an automated recording of the trophy pop would only record the simple button press, which would be completely useless to someone who wants help on how to get to the final state where you can perform the kill. This sounds cool in theory, but may be useless and ignored in practice.

Re: Rumour: Next Ghost Recon Game Is a Realistic, Tactical First-Person Shooter

"Inspired by" really means, "would love to emulate the revenue model of", and it all makes sad sense. Unfortunately, Ubisoft is just slavishly following the money and just producing yet another first person shooter in marketpkace already flooded with so many other first person shooters. Why not double down in the elements that made Ghost Recon different and unique in the marketplace, which are tactical, stealth, recon and THIRD PERSON, minimal HUD, squad coop, rather than trying to make yet another boring Modern Warfare clone? They're trying to please Wall Street investors rather than game players and not realizing that if they alienate their customers, they'll eventually lose their sales, lose customers and then lose Wall Street investors that they desperately want to please.
