If REBIRTH is the best this year have to offer then gaming is doomed XD
Jokes aside, I've found so many issues with that game (confusing camera, chocobo travelling pain, too low pacing, ridiculous physics, over bloated open world, over bloated mini-games, incessant chatting from NPCs and constant interruptions from Chadley/Mai, incosistent focus on main story.. and many many others), I gave up at 40+ hours.
It's a shame given the hype I had about it, loving the original on PS1 and having liked REMAKE.
I have at least to praise this review for being one of the most honest out there. In my opinion this second part is one of the most overrated games in recent years.
Loved the original game on PS1, liked the first one (REMAKE) for the most part, and tried to like REBIRTH as much as I could, but I'm giving up on this just after 40+ hours of playtime: for me it's a bloated mess full of nonsense.
The open world sections, which are the 70/80% of the game, are so repetitive that you can lose interest in exploring just after few hours (after Junon/Corel in my case). The story advances so slowly that at times you simply lose yourself in wondering what really is going on apart from following the men in black cloaks. Main characters are being ridiculed (Cloud fighting with an umbrella? Red XIII moon-walking? Seriously?) as often as they can, while the dark/oppressive atmosphere that enveloped the original (and REMAKE) is totally lost with all those cities, turned into tourist-like centers, full of cheerful peoples incessantly chatting at you at every step... not to mention that frustrating characters that are Chadley and MAI continuously interrupting the adventure for ridiculous matters. And then mini-games come in to give the final blow to the pace of the game, which was already low due to the aforementioned problems. And let's be clear, I liked the card game, one of the few appreciable mini games I've tried.
The best parts of this game are combat system and graphic which is beautiful, but why no one talks about how bad physics is in this game? It's shameful, almost as it was done in a predefined and limited "Game Maker".
I leave this comment for posterity, do yourself a favor, play the original or at most try it well before throwing your money into a work devoid of soul and respect for the fans who have long awaited it.
Octopath Traveller 2 features a new story with new characters in a different scenario, so there should't be problem for anyone who didn't play the first title Anyway, it's an highly recommended game for any old school RPG fan!
One of the best game of jRPG golden era, along with Xenogears, Crono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6/7.
It's a bit different than its predecessor in several ways. You have to save your world from a preannounced end of times, but instead of time travels here you travel between two parallel dimensions. Characters and plots intersect well with those of its predecessor, to which it is very attached although you understand this only going forward with the story.
I fondly remember it for its wonderful art style, great combat system and a cast of memorable characters. It also features one the best soundtrack ever made for a videogame.
Sony was not present at all, they skipped completely because probably they hadn't much to share at the moment. PS5 games are highly time consuming to develop and costs expensive, we have to deal with it.
Microsoft had something, yes, but nothing really surprising or at the horizon.
Nintendo won the show, because they were able to reveal many great new games that will be available this year. Metroid 5, Advance Wars, WarioWare, Cruis'n Blast and Shin Megami Tensei V are all very much anticipated games. And BOTW 2 is now 2022 confirmed.
I'm both Playstation and Nintendo long time fan, so when one of the two fail to surprise maybe the other (as in this case) can still make you happy

Re: Poll: Did E3 2021 Suck?
Third-parties conferences all were very bad.
