Regardless of what your take on the ActiBliz Microsoft/Sony drama is, Sony really stepped in it and has the wrong eyes on it now.

Look, I understand and fully empathize. The problem with this is that there are other instances that have caused this situation. The method in which it happens still yields the same result. I cannot tell you how many times in the early and mid 2000s - 2010s I was in a GameStop and someone walked up to the counter demanding to know why they couldn’t purchase the latest Mario Kart game for their PlayStation. Consumer ignorance, sure, but exclusivity arrangements are always exclusionary for some party regardless of how, when, or why a publisher or manufacturer acquired an IP. Yes, these titles have been taken from the PlayStation ecosystem. Yea, it really sucks for folks who don’t own a PC or Xbox platform. Regardless, Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players all experience this letdown when, for whatever reason, a game is missing from a platform. It sucks for those consumers, but it happens to anyone who isn’t fortunate enough to own every modern platform and a reliable gaming PC. In fact, outside of MLB, Sony is only publishing select titles on PC. None on Switch. None on Xbox. And Nintendo? They’re the worst offender. Cold day in Hell before you’re blasting down Rainbow Road as Yoshi on your PlayStation. Microsoft is the publisher putting more of their internally-developed and acquired properties on competing platforms. Again, not defending the Redfall and Starfield situation, but all three of them make moves to deprive other platforms of software.

I’m not sure where along the way we decided as a community that a console manufacturer should release all of their titles on competing platforms, but only a particular manufacturer, regardless of how the organization acquired the IP.

@LIMA Absolutely. I love the game to death but that made replay an issue.

This entire subject went from interesting to stupid real fast.

@Would_you_kindly This makes the job of the mods easier. I welcome any measures that help them mitigate moderation issues. I’m one of those people that doesn’t like the aforementioned “creatives” involved with the franchise because of their views but I respect the Hookshot Media team and the folks that without any intent of malice want to enjoy this game.

For me these are going to be a Switch buy but it’s really nice that they’re being released on all platforms (technically.. sorry XBS X|S & PS5) instead of being marooned on GBA, DS, and Wii U.

Ugh… here is hoping Microsoft can bring some calm and positive energy. I would love to see VV fully engaged on bringing more of the great content they’ve made to Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch without being fully dissolved into Blizzard but I doubt anything changes.

As long as it’s Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo doing this, I’m much more comfortable with that than the Googles, Apples, Amazons and Metas of the world doing it.

The big three and other developers have done an amazing job with announcements after Nintendo set a standard with their “Nintendo Direct” presentations. In this digital day, I only see them all improving these methods going forward.

@awp69 Multi-console owner here. Agreed. Only Push Square does this. The practice is nowhere near as prevalent over on Pure Xbox or Nintendo Life. It’s awkward and off putting.

As long as it isn’t Capcom or Square-Enix, I don’t care. They’re doing fine on their own. Activision was/is a dumpster fire of scandal and needed a shake up. Bungie was maybe a bit more expensive than Sony should have paid, but makes sense for their live services needs. All for Sony getting Konami and whipping that circus into shape.

I think it’s bold to assume the trend will continue at 100% after this week’s once in a generation news. Either way, I have all three systems and could care less. Bring me the games.

@mrtennis1990 I hate to say it, but this week is “The Phil Spencer Show: Staring Phil Spencer and Bobby Kotick”.

It’s bittersweet. On the one hand, a gaming industry without Bobby Kotick is a healthier industry for sure. On the other hand… this is America. Dude will have a golden parachute bigger than Texas.

Either way, I’m platform agnostic and everyone wins with him gone. ❤️💚💙

Regardless of any opinion on such a service, I appreciate how eloquently he speaks about Sony and Nintendo. Reading Console Wars years back and learning how toxic the relationship between Nintendo and Sega was in the 90s, I’m glad to see this.

Just such a negative, controversial air around this franchise these days for a handful of reasons. I feel bad for the fans. That being said, I hope the devs aren’t going to get the shaft as a result. When games enter into uncertain development waters, I immediately think of the people working hard to bring compelling software to life. Here is hoping they are taken care of well before WB, JKR, etc.

As someone who loves Nintendo the most but is platform agnostic, I love my PS5.

Super supportive of the big three being more liberal with where their titles land. Within reason naturally. This was a smart move.

Longtime Nintendo fan and console gamer that leans Xbox.. Sony gave me my first real positive experiences in VR. Cheers to PSVR2 and maybe my PS5 will be graced by it one day.

You know, PC, Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation all have their stupid, toxic fanboys but this really takes the cake.
