Re: Opinion: Does Starfield Suck? People Keep Telling Me to Skip Its PS5 Release

Blacknun

I played it on my old XBOX and I wouldn't say it was aweful, some of the game mechanics were a bit sketchy and the flyling and plotting to planets was a pain but I did enjoy it - think I sunk about 40hrs into it before I sold my XBOX, The companions sometimes were a pain shooting everything up esp the robot and the planets sometimes were just baron wastelands so you wasted time visiting them but it was an ok game - I'll get it on my PSPRO but after I've got sick of Crimson Desert

Re: Crimson Desert (PS5) - A Generational Open World Buried in Early Access Cruft

Blacknun

I've put in about 15hrs so far and I'm loving it. I'd give it a solid 9/10 for me - a few small issues and at times the control button issues are a pain but overall this is the game I've been waiting for, something to get lost in, have random encounters, explore and have fun. It can only get better from the DEV support so excited to see where it goes

Re: PS5 Players Seemingly Skip Marathon as Sales Estimates Look Very Weak

Blacknun

It's a shame if this is true: Looking at my ps5 where it tells you how many of your friends have the game, i don't have a single person on my list who has it. out of 150+ I would of thought 1 but nope none. Maybe this has become a niche game or maybe it is just not resonating with people on the PS how they hoped. Gaming is a strange world ... I love Arc Raiders but after the server slam I gave this a miss it just didn't work for me.

Re: 'We Should Have Clearly Disclosed Our Use of AI': Crimson Desert Dev 'Sincerely Apologises' for Erroneously Including AI Art in PS5 Game

Blacknun

I'm waiting for the backlash here ,,, but who cares .... did it ruin the game - no - did it effect the game - no is the game fun - Yes and if a few small background items used ai so what it isn't a crime. Everyone wailing about it - oh the pain it has caused me cos they found some AI elements in a game ... boohoo. Yes if the whole game was used by AI I could understand the outcry but unfortunately ai is here to stay ... Interesting how Expedition 33, also used AI, but don't get the same amount of hatred, as this one. I think people are just looking for an excuse to hate this game - Well I think it's a great game and after 12hrs in I'm loving it

Re: Round Up: Crimson Desert Reviews Are a Major Disappointment

Blacknun

I guess its what the player gets out of it that counts not everyone will play the game the same and the enjoyment levels will be different for everyone. personally I think it will be a good game to kill some hours on. TBH I very rarely take count of reviews I listen to what the players say on forums etc for a real account of the games strengths or weaknesses

Re: Highguard Joins the Great Concord in the Sky, Now Officially Delisted on PS5

Blacknun

maybe developers need to take a step back look at the markets, forums, do some research and realise too many PvE an PvP games are failing - Concord - X-Defiant, The Day Before, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Anthem, Fairgame$, Vicious Circle to name a few ... give the gamers something they actually want not what they think they want

Re: Review in Progress: Marathon (PS5) - Bungie's Extraction Shooter Is Brilliant, and It Only Gets Better

Blacknun

i wanted to love this game but unfortunately it just didn't gel with me. I so wanted it to. I like the look and feel of the game in the server slam but it was the HUD and System that got me. It's not the easiest to navigate and i found I was wasting time here more than playing. I also thought the AI was too strong I got wiped more by them than I did with real players .. maybe I'll go back to it and get it in the sale

Re: Highguard Permanently Shuts Down on 12th March

Blacknun

It's a shame this has happened I played it for a bit even purchased a bundle but it was just a dire game, too big not enough players and as an older player it just didn't get me .. I tried but it wasn't for me. ... Concord was a huge red flag for new extraction shooters I thought, Devs should maybe use this as a benchmark . Look at the game and how it measures up, research it, see what people are saying, people are trying to tell studios over and over again that there is already enough live service games and want something more. Yes there is a place for extraction shooters and there are some great ones out there look at ARC Raiders for one, but I also think a lot of the downfall is down to keyboard warriors just slamming games without trying them.

As for Marathon as it keeps getting mentioned: I played Marathon on the Serever Slam - and after about 6 hours I just couldn't get into it, but I love helldivers 2, Arc Raiders, Hunt and even Endgame in COD 7, I don't know what it was about Marathon but it didn't gel. Maybe if it had a small single player to get me into the universe and invested in the game ... I don't know but something just didn't work. Maybe I'll go back to it when it's i the sale.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Blacknun

I tried this over the weekend. I played for about 5 hours and as much as I wanted to like it I found it realling boring, it just didn't live upto the hype for me. I so wanted to enjoy the game but I got no tension, I found I was just running around in open spaces and brightly coloured corridors with 2 other people and shooting the odd bot. PVP was so scarse that I forgot it was a PVP. I got no excitement from the game or built up tension that I do from Arc Raiders, THe UI also did my head in it was so in-your-face that I found I was just bored of seeing it and wishing it to get over and done with so I could get into the game. I found the interface/Vault clunky to navigate and got lost off a few times in it. I got the rook then couldn't use it after I leveled up .. overall for me not an enjoyable experience that I actually cancelled my pre-order.

Re: Avowed (PS5) - Overlooked Xbox RPG Arrives with Some Big Upgrades

Blacknun

I'm enjoying this, played around 3 hours last night - it's no way a skyrim but it's a good solid RPG. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out with a bit more play and what support it gets via DLC in the future ... I give it a good 7/10 - not the best but 100% not the worst of it's kind and at £39.99 not a wallet breaker

Re: Failing FPS Highguard's Concord Arc Seems Almost Complete as Website Goes Down

Blacknun

it's a shame this has happened but I think the writing was on the wall from day 1

"The demise of the FPS Highguard isn't just a shift in trends; it’s a symptom of a disconnect between the boardroom and the server. We’ve moved from games built on 'feel' and mechanical mastery to games built on algorithms and 'retention loops.'

It’s time for the industry to look beyond internal playtesting bubbles. We need a 'Gamer Collective'—a dedicated pool of long-term players with decades of skin in the game to act as a consultative North Star during development. Imagine a 'collective gamer mind' that provides raw, unfiltered feedback on balance, map flow, and monetization before a single line of code is finalized. Developers need to stop guessing what we want and start building with the people who actually live in their worlds."
