Here is a prime example of how companies gouge prices.
Sony (and Nintendo will do the same) is spreading the pain from US sanctions. Instead of increasing prices proportionally to tariffs in the US (a main market for their consoles) to offset import tariffs, they will keep the price increases there lower by at the same time increasing prices across the world to cover for US tariffs. In effect the consumer in Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan etc. will be subsidizing the US consumer.
