A bit harsh to say it's on its last legs. It's still a focal point for publishers, many of whom couldn't get the same exposure by setting up their own expo.
This is fairly standard, no? There's usually a multi-platform period at launch. It did the Switch no harm to have BotW on Wii U as well (granted, Wii U didn't have the install base of Xbox).
I feel that all of the presentations were hampered by the fact that all of the big reveals had been already revealed or leaked early. Sony set out their stall ages ago; MS showed tech demos of inevitable sequels; and Nintendo could have killed it if Fortnite hadn't been the worst kept secret in the gaming world. I think our disappointment is largely down to the difficulty of delivering real surprises in an age when publishers basically cannot control the delivery methods.
This game always looked ordinary, apart from its setting. I wish more devs would focus on making the core gameplay fun before getting the aesthetics and atmospherics right.
@dark_knightmare2 It's more the feel of the combat that I preferred. It felt more flowing and weighty. The upgrade system in GOW is fine, although it took a while to work it out!
For me, it's good - very good at times - but not mind-blowingly great. Under the hood I don't feel it mechanically does anything really new. And I preferred the combat in Hellblade, personally. It's very well-refined, and I like how it borrows from another Norse-bending brawler, Viking: Battle for Asgard!
Not to sound ungrateful, but rather than "companion pieces", why not create a single list of games with their various enhancements, rather than separate lists?
Contrarily, for me the reason I bounced off this (and the Souls games) is precisely because of the number of articles/comments claiming that the game "isn't actually that hard". So I go in with expectations of a reasonable difficulty curve and some kind of tutorial then get annihilated over and over again by the first enemy. I'd rather people just stated it's a brutal and unwelcoming game so I know what needs to be overcome before the fun begins.

Re: Feature: Our Most Anticipated PS4 Games of 2020
Doom Eternal for me. (And BotW2 if there's any chance of that coming out this year...)

Re: The Last of Us Is the Best Game of the Decade, According to Metacritic Users
@Akurusu Dangerous words round these parts but I wholly agree with you. I found TLOU to be an insufferable interactive movie.

Re: PS4 Is Way Ahead of Xbox One in Total Console Sales, Says New Data
This doesn't really benefit the consumer, unless Microsoft sort themselves out and start providing genuine competition for Sony.

Re: Hands On: WipEout PSVR Will Absolutely Melt Your Mind
So, this is the game (update) that pushed me to buy a VR headset. I did not predict that.
