First Professor Layton Game Gets PS5 Remake, Curious Village Out in 2027

I really can't see how this will work well without the touchscreen and stylus.

there are just so many entries in this series that it would have been better served as a collection... similar to what capcom has done with phoenix wright. just a single game is not appealing at all and they will likely charge 3X what it's worth. this screams testing the waters and not having much faith in their own product. or perhaps they will release all the games in pieces before rolling out a collection which should go over well. but yea, probably better off with the ds/3ds originals anyways due to the emphasis of stylus controls...

Oh curses, I’ve already replayed this on DS last month. Yes, I’m aware that remakes don’t have to replace the original, but this is a puzzle game, and I’ve recently went back to it to solve all the puzzles.

Oh my god yes! I was literally just saying how badly I’d love to see the original games remade for PlayStation! Over the moon with this!

I absolutely love these games. That being said, I’d put money down on that ‘remastered’ art being AI generated. Level-5 are all in on it and some of the changes are a bit odd and inconsistent compared to the original scenes.

@Haruki_NLI You can plug in a real mouse and keyboard to the console, but the game needs to support it.

I would love a collection but still it is good that the series is finally out of legacy hardware. I love the DS and the 3DS but come on both felt underpowered even when they released. After Castlevania and Ace Attorney, Layton was the final of my favourite series that does not have modern versions of its games.

I wonder how this will release. I would love to see the Layton series on modern hardware. Maybe release them individually and digitally then physically as a collection on disc or cartridge?

@belmont The trilogy has HD remasters on mobile that honestly should have been ported instead of this. Those remasters are basically perfect and available on all modern phones.

@nessisonett Yes, I have them it just seems strange to me to play a game in the phone, even though Layton works perfectly with touchscreens. I would very much prefer a native PlayStation or Steam version.

Professor Layton lives in ‘A gentleman always says: “Shut up and please take my money”’ land. Beaten the game four times already. Still a day one purchase.

@Dom_31 You're not alone there. The 3D models make the game look cheap. The earlier Layton games are timeless visual-wise, so this is a downgrade by comparison.

@SMJ Ghost Trick worked. Plenty of DS games work without the touchscreen.
