Sony finally announced the much-leaked LEGO PS1 set recently, and included in the purchase is a separate set that lets you build a LEGO Astro Bot.

This extra comes at no additional cost. It's a nice bonus for PlayStation fans, but after new images of the Astro set have emerged online, some wish it could be bought on its own.

Here are the newly leaked images of the LEGO Astro Bot set:

The images reveal the Astro set comprises 276 pieces and stands 20cm tall when complete. It also comes with two sets of eyes so you can change his expression.

Having seen the model in more detail, fans are wondering why it's locked to the LEGO PS1 and not being released standalone.

Comments below the above post are full of people wanting to buy it without having to commit to the PS1 set, which is $179.99/€159.99/£139.99.

Unfortunately it is locked to that larger set, and it seems you can only get it via LEGO's online store as a free gift.

The good news is the Astro set looks really good, so you're in for two nice LEGO builds if you do go for it.
