Reading between the lines, it doesn’t sound like the PS5 will face any more price increases in the short-term.
In its latest earnings report, the manufacturer said it has procured the “quantity of memory necessary to meet our projected sales volume” for the period ending 31st March, 2027.
The firm has forecast record breaking profits for the year, which if achieved would set a new industry high.
Sony says there’s “no change to our plan for hardware profitability” which certainly implies to me there’ll be no further price increases until next year.

Earlier this year, it increased the price of its entire hardware range, meaning the cheapest PS5 console now costs $599.99 – an increase of $200 compared to its launch almost six years ago.
Microsoft will raise the price of its own machines again this August, and is apparently still in the red. Meanwhile, Nintendo will incorporate global price hikes in September.
PS5 hardware sales have stalled on the back of its price increases, with sales down 36% year-on-year in its most recent financial report.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the system performs over the coming months, with GTA 6 guaranteed to give it a bump over the Christmas period.
The system has now shipped 95.3 million units worldwide, which means it’s practically guaranteed to surpass the 100 million units milestone within its lifetime.
Of course, its trajectory is now beginning to fall behind the PS4, which could be purchased for as little as $199.99 at the same point in its lifespan – sometimes with a copy of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man included.
