The heavy release schedule continues in earnest, and while we’re approaching the endgame for this year with GTA 6 next month, there’s plenty of enthusiasm for Square Enix’s upcoming HD-2D effort, Final Fantasy Resonance.

Now, ahead of its release on 22nd October next week, Famitsu has published the throwback RPG’s first review – and it’s a good one.

The Japanese publication’s panel decided on a score of 9/9/9/9, resulting in a very respectable 36/40.

Questions have been asked about the iconic weekly magazine’s ratings over the years, but I played Resonance for over an hour earlier in the year, and I was broadly impressed with what I saw. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up around the 8 or 9 mark personally.

According to X user Genki, who’s a font of Japanese gaming knowledge, Famitsu also said the main campaign takes around 20 to 30 hours to complete. However, if you want to achieve 100% completion, you’re looking at around 70 hours.

So it seems like the story will be quite breezy, but there’ll be plenty to dig your teeth into after if you want to see everything the game has to offer.

It all sounds like positive stuff as far as I’m concerned. We’ll bring you our full review soon.
