Patapon Spiritual Successor Ratatan Delays Release into PS5's Busy Fall Schedule 1

Ratatan, the upcoming rhythm-strategy game from the makers of Patapon, has been delayed.

It was scheduled to arrive on 16th July, 2026, but its has been postponed by about three months, now coming on 15th October.

That puts the game squarely in the extremely busy late summer/early autumn period, where many games have positioned themselves to avoid the almighty GTA 6 in mid-November.

"As of now the development team is currently continuing to work on improvements, focusing primarily on enhancing multiplayer stability and fixing bugs, based on the feedback and responses gathered from the Steam Early Access version," reads a press release about the delay.

"In addition, final adjustments are being made across different platforms to ensure the delivery of a stable gaming experience. In order to ensure these improvements are to the highest possible standard, the release date will be postponed to Thursday, 15th October 2026."

Led by Patapon's original creator, Hiroyuki Kotani, Ratatan is another real-time strategy game in which you input commands by drumming along to the beat of the music.

Unlike its inspiration, this game is roguelike in nature, meaning each mission is different and you equip your army with different weapons and upgrades each time.

The reception over on Steam has been very positive from users, so here's hoping it's a good one when it eventually launches in October.
