If you were wondering if other major games will follow GTA 6's lead when it comes to its physical copies, you can rest assured that's not the case — at least for Marvel's Wolverine.

Rockstar's upcoming open world action game will be available to buy physically, but the box won't contain a disc, opting for a download code instead.

This has caused some concern among collectors that other major games will do the same thing. However, the superhero adventure from Insomniac Games won't be one of them.

Responding to a fan on X, the studio confirms the physical version of Marvel's Wolverine will ship with a disc included.

It's an interesting issue. On the one hand, the digital market accounts for a vast majority of game sales these days, so there's less incentive to distribute software in a physical form.

However, digital games come with their own drawbacks that mainly revolve around preservation, and the tangible ownership of a product rather than a simple licence to play a game.

That's more important for some people more than others, but GTA 6 has really highlighted the issue with the decision to exclude a disc.

There are rumours it'll get a disc version eventually, but until then, I expect we'll see this question being raised more and more in future, particularly for major launches like Marvel's Wolverine.

Luckily, for those that want it, the PS5 exclusive will be available on a disc.
