The awkwardly named The Blood of Dawnwalker (we've just started referring to it as Dawnwalker for brevity's sake) now has a confirmed release date on PS5.
Despite some scepticism, Dawnwalker will launch this year, on the 3rd September.
If you've somehow kept yourself in the dark over this one, it's supposed to be the beginning of a new role-playing property from Rebel Wolves — a recently assembled, Warsaw-based studio spearheaded by former CD Projekt Red developers.
The title was first announced in early 2024, and while it showed a lot of mechanical promise, it looked rather rough around the edges. The good news is that every time we've seen the game since, improvements have been clear, and its latest showcase continues that trend.

Basically, Dawnwalker's got huge potential. It's very much a choice-driven adventure, in which protagonist Coen has a set number of days to rescue his loved ones from a vampiric cult.
As such, every decision really does seem to matter, as the story branches out with different quests depending on your actions. You'll also be in a constant wrestling match with yourself, since Coen can make use of potentially corruptive vampire powers to further his goals.
And before you start to worry, no, this isn't a time limit in the traditional sense — it's more like the calendar system from Persona, where time only moves forward when you complete objectives or engage in certain activities.
When you're not working your way through quests, you're free to explore what is apparently a fairly sizeable setting. Dawnwalker doesn't seem to have a massive open world, but you can traverse the medieval city and its surrounding countryside at your own pace.
There's also plenty of combat to see in the above showcase. Coen has two fighting styles; he's both an adept swordsman and a viscous creature of the night, and you can progress through a pretty extensive-looking skill tree however you like.

Looks amazing!
Can't wait. Name is not great, though. Probably should have called it Blood of the Dawnwalker. Rolls off the tongue a lot better and everyone calls it that anyway.
@wildcat_kickz Can confirm when I was drafting this article I called it Blood of the Dawnwalker twice before realising.
Looks pretty interesting but Sky SC takes priority in September for me. I’ll wait until this is on sale and all patched up before playing.
Awesome, can't wait.
Looking forward to playing this!...on my pc
So this, Fable, GTA6, and presumably a few more...It's good to know ahead of time, i'll be absolutely skint come Christmas....Brassic, penniless, not a pot to piddle in 🤨😄
If this reviews well, I could see it being a day one pickup for me!
This feels very Witchery to me. Definitely interested.
But the title sounds like an expansion to an MMO or something!
Wearing the Witcher influences proudly, but even more than I expected. Soundtrack sounds like the same chap, which is not a complaint, menus, combat, landscape, all very Witcher-y. Again, not a complaint.
Only slight worry, Witcher 3 was for me so great because of how memorable Geralt was, not just his story, but his character, the humour, just everything about him and the supporting cast. I hope this delivers in this way, as my only complaint from the gameplay and the trailers is, he seems a bit boring..
Edit - to say that as long as the character is interesting, this is my No. 1 most anticipated game of 2026
This is another game from this year that I will most definitely be pre-ordering. I love the look of the game, and the premise is very interesting. I just have to hope that the set amount of days does not get in the way of a good game...
Could be the next Witcher until Witcher 4.
Looks good in terms of lore and design but man the combat hasn't improved in any of the gameplay reveals. Very sluggish, floaty, and impactless because of poor animation transitions. The wind only effecting foliage and trees like 20 feet around the character is also pretty bad.
That haunted site combat was genuinely terrible looking.
I have a feeling combat is unfortunately going to be this games weakest link.
I do question who thought it would be a good idea for the protagonist to wear his sword in that way. Not only is it more difficult to draw, but the scabbard would constantly be hitting his right calf.
Looks great! September should be pretty busy with this, Wolverine and Trails' 2nd Chapter already confirmed for September.
This looks good. Vampire games always interest me
Same month as Phantom Blade Zero and Wolverine, man that is going to be a rough month for me wallet.
Can never have too many action RPG's. Not all of them succeed, so the more the better. Hopefully this thing can catch the spirt of the Witcher, but in a new IP. Would be great to have a brand new Witcher-like to look forward to every gen
Like Phantom Blade Zero, it looks awesome, but I feel something holding me back on it, so I’m trusting my gut to avoid preordering, but, like Crimson Desert, I’ll get it if the feedback is good. Would love something that is sort of Witchery, sort of Castlevania, and sort of Vampyr/Banishers, which is the vibe I’m getting from this.
You can tell it's from CDPR devs, because the combat looks atrocious.
