Paramount has released a "Title Reveal" trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, its upcoming fourth entry in the popular live action movie series.

What will perhaps be of most interest to fans is the confirmation that Jim Carrey is set to return.

The actor has threatened to retire in recent years, leaving fans wondering whether he'll come back for subsequent movies to reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik. It seems he will indeed be part of the ensemble.

The video also teases the arrival of Metal Sonic, who it seems will be an antagonistic force against Sonic and co.

The film is scheduled to arrive in March 2027, so it's still about a year away.

As well as Carrey, Ben Schwartz (Sonic) and debutant Kristen Bell (Amy Rose) are named in the video title, while the rest of the usual ensemble will be back for Sonic 4.

Confirmed by Schwartz on X, returning voices (and faces) include Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Tails), Idris Elba (Knuckles), Keanu Reeves (Shadow), James Marsden (Tom), Tika Sumpter (Maddie), and Lee Madjoub (Agent Stone).

The film will also add Ben Kingsley, Nick Offerman, Matt Berry, and Richard Ayoade to the cast in unknown roles.

There's plenty of time for new details to filter in during the next 12 months.
