There's a huge amount of nostalgia for The Simpsons: Hit & Run, which most would agree is the best video game based on the long-running animated series.
The GTA-lite action adventure originally released in 2003, developed by Radical Entertainment, and fans have been clamouring for a remaster or remake for a long time.
Well, the developer has bounced back under the new name of New Radical Games, which appears to be a merging of Radical and fellow Canadian team Hothead Games.
The studio's website was recently discovered, and while it dates back almost a year to April 2025, it's full of nods to The Simpsons: Hit & Run, along with Radical's other work like Prototype and Crash Tag Team Racing.
The site's sheer existence, alongside Hit & Run's presence within it, is enough to have fans speculating about whether this means a higher possibility of a remaster or remake at long last.
Back in 2019, Vlad Ceraldi, a producer on the original game, shared a desire to see the game return someday, though it should be noted he doesn't appear to be involved with New Radical Games.
Still, ex-Radical people are definitely involved. Ian Wilkinson, who co-founded Radical Entertainment, is CEO of New Radical Games, while Tim Bennison (who also was at Radical Entertainment for many years) serves as COO.
It does seem this is a recent, concerted effort to reestablish the studio. It doesn't confirm or guarantee anything is being done with Hit & Run, but clearly the team is very proud of that game, as it's all over the site.
What do you think? Is New Radical Games aiming to bring back The Simpsons: Hit & Run? Would you like to see that happen? Tell us in the comments section below.

Their Hulk game was one of the best superhero games of the 2000s
Dont do it. Dont give me hope....
New Radical Games? Well you only get what you give I guess
@LowDefAl Road Rage was definitely a Crazy Taxi clone, but Hit n' Run had a lot of GTA elements in it.
Surely the licensing would be an enormous hurdle to overcome here. I don't know who has the Simpsons licence anymore, and even if all the rights are sorted out, there's no guarentee that any legacy developer or team can recreate their success of the past.
@LowDefAl " Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson. You're all fakes, run to your mansions". last song I kinda thought was groovy.
South Park: The Fractured but Whole was an Excellent Animation to Game I hope they put as much love into making a Simpsons game and not just rely on its Licence.
@AK4tywill Yeah I realised that very quickly, I forgot there were two games
Ugh, RemasterStation 5
@ButterySmooth30FPS Remakes and remasters are popular and sell well. Until they aren’t/don’t, don’t expect publishers to stop releasing them.

That's what I'm curious to know as well — I'd imagine everything is owned by Disney now but as you say I'm sure there's way more to it.
I'd really love to see whatever powers that be pull their finger out and make the Simpsons Arcade available for modern consoles again

Oh Ultimate Destruction? Yeah that game was awesome wasn't it? Very ahead of its time
@Number09 I would not count on that at all when the Simpsons writing has devolved into something unrecognizable and unwatchable for many years now
I feel like remastering it and bringing it back wouldn't have the affect people think. I never played it though, it would be more than welcome.
@ButterySmooth30FPS Because Xbox, Switch, and PC don't have any remakes/remasters. 🙄🙄🙄
@Number09 Both Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson make music leaps and bound better than that garbage. Weak New Radical fakes aren't going to kick anyones ass in.
There was already a remake done by a youtuber about 3 years ago. In fact it was so good, that everyone begged to release it, but he didn't for the obvious reasons. It has everything done not just map merged into one without loading screens, but models revamped, textures revamped, new voice lines added and even new missions.
@jFug But I’ve been told several times that nobody wants them!
I played Hit & Run for the first time since launch back in September. Upscaled, smooth 60, and you know what? The game hasn't aged that well. It's still fun, Springfield is amazing, but the moment to moment gameplay is extremely dated.
Still excited for this!! I'd just expect the same reaction to it as when they remastered that SpongeBob game (also good)
@ButterySmooth30FPS Don't forget RemasterBox Series X and RemasterSwitch 2
So who owns the rights to this game, Disney or Activision?
@Scottyy Yeah, I fear nostalgia is doing a lot of heavy lifting with these games; they're little more than just Crazy Taxi / GTA reskins
@spikes91 I would imagine Activision own the rights to the game, but they can't do anything with it without renewing the licensing from Disney. Much the same with all the Transformers games too.
I still play this on my Retroid. It isn't perfect, but it's fun enough. The Donut mod is rad. The Simpsons were always at their best on Halloween, and Donut mod let's you play in the fall. That was enough for me to check it out.
Thats what im talking about it!
I would definitely buy a remake or remaster.
It's great to see old studios come back from the dead, I mean Aklaim came back a while back, I mean the PS1 era had so many greats I would love to see the industry like that again away from the big greed
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy Agreed but it's the comedic melodies, music and the rememberable quotes that keep the nostalgia and charm going I'd say.
@Almost_Ghostly There's a homebrew port for Switch.
@Bamila I saw one of his vids, but I prefer the other YouTuber who redrew the cutscenes. Unfortunately he never finished his version as he moved on to make 90s cartoon video games in Dreams, but it had a lot of progress.
Prototype remake would be more likely.
@AtlasLivesAgain You either replied to the wrong person or misunderstood my comment.
The Simpsons hit and run and Prototype. God I spent SO many days worth of hours on them.
If we had trophies back then, Hit and Run would probs be the only platinum I'd ever have lol
Oh prototype. That needs a remake or sequel, great game for causing mayhem. Haven’t tried a simpsons game since college, when it was out on the Sega.
Why would anyone want a remaster or remake over a new game?
Id lose my mind if the old Simpsons games like Hit n' Run and Road Rage were remastered or remade.
Both Road Rage and Hit n Run remasters PLEASE!!!!!!! Take my money!!
@Almost_Ghostly Yep, I guess you were talking about how there are a lot remakes remasters on all consoles/PC. Personally, I've never heard of a remaster/remake that didn't look like a decent overhaul (Minus the bad job cases such as Silent Hill collection or Kingdoms of Amalur), so I personally feel it's not bad to do these. My only exception would probably be The Last of Us Part I when it already had a remaster... That was a waste of time.
Yeah the studio has returned but people think they can afford the Simpsons licence to do a remaster? 🤣 The studio is gonna be an Indie developer at best, at worst it'll get bought by embracer then shut down
Then fans are stupid. Just because a new studio with the word "Radical" in its name has been founded, doesn't mean that a Simpsons Hit & Run remaster/remake is even remotely likely, and the reasons for that are numerous.
Still play the original on xbox 360 from time to time. Day one purchase for me
@LowDefAl I say "radical"! That's my thing that I say!
There isn't going to be a Hit N' Run remaster. We haven't seen a proper Simpsons game in 19 years and just because we want it doesn't mean the industry will provide. Of course it'd be lovely to see The Simpsons: Hit & Run return after all this time in some form, yet we can grab a PS2 and played it as originally intended. Nostalgia won't improve the games industry as it is now anyways.
Radical returning, like Argonaut and others, ok I'm interested.
A sequel for it has been a thing for years of speculation besides a maybe prototype that didn't go much of anywhere or just a mention/plan to.
It would be cool but I don't care for most modern open worlds so I'd pass on it really.
That aside Radical were a fair studio, licensed games or original games.
