Just a couple of weeks ago, an age rating for some kind of Rayman re-release was spotted — and now, what is supposedly that same project has been outed by original series creator Michel Ancel.
In the latest issue of Retro Gamer magazine (as highlighted by @AlfredNewStart and @raymanmerch on social media), Ancel casually reveals that Ubisoft has been working on what sounds like an enhanced remaster, in celebration of the PS1 platformer's 30th anniversary.
"I think there's a kind of remake planned," he comments. "I don't remember when specifically, but it will be in HD and I think Ubisoft is adding a few more checkpoints and things like that just to make it a bit less frustrating."
Hey, it sounds good to us; the first Rayman game was, for many, an iconic PS1 experience — but it could certainly offer up a controller-chucking challenge at times.
So, it's likely only a matter of time until this whole thing is made official. Could it show up during this week's State of Play broadcast? The timing would make sense, and we'll know for sure soon enough.
Would you give Rayman a replay? Remember all of those weird enemy sound effects in the comments section below.
