Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have released a lengthy gameplay video for their upcoming action RPG, Nioh 3.
Set for launch in just a couple of weeks on 6th February, the game is looking reliably solid throughout the video, which you can watch here:
Nioh 3 builds upon the first two games with more open ended environments and an adventure taking you through various time periods.

The result is a game with a pretty diverse range of locations; the level design looks more interesting and fleshed out here.
This otherwise looks like familiar territory, really — you're a powerful warrior able to take down demonic baddies, with your mission being to purify the very evil-looking Crucibles popping up throughout history.
You can swap between samurai and ninja combat styles at any time, and you will gain access to lots of different weapon types and magical abilities with which to dispatch foes.
It doesn't look like it's breaking the mould too much, but Nioh has always been a great series, so we're pretty confident the third entry will be another challenging but satisfying action RPG.
Don't forget, there's a playable demo coming to PS5 on 29th January, and your save data will carry over to the full game.

Nice, they implemented a "Jump" mechanic as well! Always seemed like that was a move that was sorely missing from the last 2 entries. Can't wait for that Demo. Probably my most anticipated Game for 2026.
Feel like Nioh 3 has slipped under the radar for most people, this could be down to lack of promotion (until now)
Edit: Forgot they released a demo
Day one!. Demo next week (28th), enough said.
Edit: Just saw in the video they pushed it to 29th ;(
@Oram77 Alpha demo a few months ago, Beta demo with saved progression next week.
@Zeke68 I love when studios do that with demos! Just looking at the steelbook

Very tempted to say the least.
N.i.c.e. Grand theft auto 6 and nioh 3 are my 2 most anticipated games.word up son
As the one who mained odachi in the first game and splitstaff in the second, I'll wait for complete edition. And I still need to finish Wo Long.
@Dalamar Wo long such a good game, criminally underrated, and the dlc is actually really good also with the new weapons and allies, but the bosses are much tougher 🫤 played through recently to warm up before Nioh 3 comes
@Oram77 Just buy it!
And if you beat the demoboss you get a "Twin-snake helmet" as a reward as an ingame item. I assume that is like the +5% XP leveling helmet we got with Nioh 2 demo.
Absolutely love the Nioh series (and pretty much all the other spin-off games) - only wish they'd update their graphics engine, it's beginning to really look tired.
Is this when Nioh finally pops off? 20 million units here we come!
@Oram77 I've got that steelbook pre-ordered on Amazon. It's the same price as the regular digital edition, which seems crazy.
I get that digital editions are convenient for some, but that's a no-brainer in my eyes
If they just refined the terrible loot system, I'd love these games. It's just so bad. Diablo levels of needless filler
@KundaliniRising333 Nioh 2 had a "lootfilter", you could set rarity on drops under settings so I guess Nioh 3 will have the same.
@KundaliniRising333 you can filter out the junk in the settings.
But the diablo like loot system is a core pillar of Nioh, the making a build and searching for the perfect gear for that build is half the fun.
@Mintie I hear you but if your loot system needs filters in place to sift out all the junk, that's a problem. Not to mention the loot is just a pool of the exact same handful of weapons with slightly different stats and rarities. If there were actually a myriad of unique weapons for each weapon type that would feel entirely different.
as it is now it just feel lazy to see, and a slog to engage with after a dozen hrs or so.
Counting down the days now. Just me and my sweet, sweet switchglaive.
Nioh is one of the best franchises around. I poured bare hours into the first two. Can’t wait for this
Will this be newcomer friendly? I'd always hope they would have difficulty modes, love the vibe but 'get gud' mentality always pushed me away.
My most anticipated game of this year and it looks great. Definitely will be my GOTY if it's as good or better than the first two games. Nothing really comes close to the Nioh franchise's combat and this one looks set to expand the gameplay even further.
@Dalamar Those weapons are in the base game for Nioh 3.
@KundaliniRising333 I fail to see how it's a problem. The filter literally takes a few seconds to set, furthermore, what you're asking for doesn't exist in any loot based game. Every loot based game has you come across a lot of the same equipment with the differences being their tier, appearance and stats. Plenty of us enjoy loot based games, nothing lazy or sloggish about.
I'm so ready for this game and I'm glad we get another demo even sooner. I loved the alpha demo even if I wasnt too keen on switching between samurai and ninja. But I'm sure it'll grow on me
@TruestoryYep my point was that they always leave the most interesting weapons for DLC. I'll wait for those.
The PEAK is back
Super stoked. This is gonna be awesome.
@Hellaween Can’t say exactly how this one will pan out yet but the series is highly technical and quite demanding. Beyond that generalization, there is also a steep learning curve, with many intertwining systems and menus at play. Not trying to scare you off, just know going into it that this is not a casual ‘pick up and play’ series. That said, it’s really amazing if you’re willing to invest. The level of depth on offer is beyond impressive, where you’re almost certain to find a style of play that suits you. Definitely worth giving the forthcoming demo a try to help make up your mind.
Maybe one day they’ll change the engine and not have every game they develop look near identical to each other.
I thought we were getting a 17min demo for a second..lol..but really, why no demo yet?
@DarianStarfrog Demo in 5 days, chill.
