Any Resident Evil fans will know that rumours have been swirling about Leon Kennedy making an appearance in Resident Evil Requiem, and it's now reached a point where a producer has commented on the matter.
Ever since the horror game's announcement, it's been speculated by many that Leon Kennedy, star of several previous entries, would be playing a part in the new game alongside protagonist Grace Ashcroft.
It's a rumour that refuses to die down, and perhaps came to a head when a supposed leaked image of Leon's appearance in the game made its way online.

Speaking to Stevivor, producer Masato Kumazawa answers a question about Leon, and whether he really will be part of Requiem. Here's the answer in full:
"Apart from any official information that Capcom has released, the rest is more detective work [on the part of players]. So I would suggest to please not take everything at face value.
Considering that now is the time when AI [can be used to make] videos and photos, we don’t know what’s right or what’s wrong. It’s just that players are free to believe what they would like to believe; what I’d like to tell is that, please, unless it’s officially released from Capcom, we can’t give you any confirmation.
There has been a photo lately of Leon with an eye patch, and just basically saying there’s a DLC or a new costume for Leon — but just to make sure, these are all fake news."
Kumazawa seems a little frustrated by the constant search for signs of Leon in the new game, and calls out that "leaked" image "fake news".
We suppose his answer isn't a straight no; there's every possibility that Leon is in Requiem, and maybe even a playable character, as many suspect.
What do you think? Is Leon in the game, and have fans found convincing enough evidence yet? Tell us in the comments section below.

At this point, I really hope Leon isn't in RE9, the Leon fan boys have been unbearable since the launch trailer...
Leon Kennedy news is Donald trump fake news resident evil requiem looks really good. Word up son
The old gangs like Leon, Chris, Jill, or Claire should be retired at this point. They've been fighting B.O.W since 1998 and Requiem took place 30 years after Raccoon City got nuked. Leon was 21 years old in RE 2 so in Requiem he would be 51 years old.
I think it's about time they pass the baton to younger characters.
Leon is absolutely in RE9 and I'd bet my life savings that he's the other main playable character besides Grace. Capcom has been so coy and selective about showing things from this game that I know they're hiding something big, and Leon being there is so obvious to anyone who's even mildly followed the series.
@PuppetMaster if they should be retired then they deserve a stage with spotlights centered on them to take the final bow while receiving thunderous applause from the audience.
Requiem seems like a perfect stage to me.
BBC Said they were real.
Don't care. Would rather to not get any spoiler but for me it doesn't make a difference with what character im playing. No really big into resident evil lore, just want a nice horror game. RE7 and 8 was dope
Regardless of worthless rumors I do believe Leon has a chance of showing up, but I won't hold my breath.
With or without him the game looks great anyway, and Grace is a massive step-up from Cardboard Winters.
@Oram77 At this point I don't believe a word of what Capcom say not in a negative way just think they are playing us. Either way it's going to be an absolute blast loving Monster Hunter Wilds at the mo regardless what haters say. Same game engine in theory too and what a great community.
@Jammer Hey, if you are loving Monster Hunter more power to you brother! I will always say the RE Engine is an amazing engine just don't think it can handle open worlds too well.
@PuppetMaster Leon definitely and probably Chris, but Jill hasn't been seen since Revelations, which was a side game and took place before 5 (I'm not counting the CG Alcatraz movie she was in). I feel like she, and Claire to a lesser extent, deserves a lead role in another game. The last mainline game where Jill was playable was Nemesis.
@PuppetMaster Because 51 is so old.
Btw, Daniel Craig was 51 when he played 007 in the last Bond film. Tom Cruise is 63, and he’s still running.
@Stevemalkpus Just because a couple of actors are still running and jumping and they also got helped by stuntmen who replaced them at very dangerous scene, doesn't mean 51 isn't old.
@PuppetMaster Ageist much?
@Stevemalkpus You don't believe in nature and science much? Hey, you do you 🤷♂️
I personally believe Dusk Golem on this because his leaks have been rather on point.
@PuppetMaster
@Stevemalkpus is kind of right - but it does vary based on individuals.
I've been involved in martial arts a long time, and it would surprise a lot of people exactly what some people are capable of at 51, and at ages far beyond 51.
Physical toughness is one such area that can be retained way beyond what most believe.
A person at 51 may not be quite as fast or agile as they once were, but that doesn't mean they couldn't make an 18 year old look slow and unwieldy.
Of course, it does take the body longer to heal up after injuries - that is almost certain, and stamina can be reduced (which is again relative), but there is no reason to think all 51 year-olds are old - in fact I have seen a number of people in their 50's who are better in almost every physical regard than others in their 20's and 30's (except body healing time), it just depends on the individuals involved.
@Oram77 I must admit MHW has some screen tearing I've never seen in a game before. But Requiem won't tax the system I hope or be anywhere near an open world scenario. Either that or my PS5 is on the fritz hope not as am hunkering down and gaming as it's too damn cold to venture outside.
