For some reason, Digimon Story Time Stranger will have its frame rate capped at just 30 frames-per-second on consoles — including PS5.
The disappointment surrounding this news has been echoing amongst fans over the weekend, with Bandai Namco having revealed the game's technical specifications last Friday.
It's a limitation that, on a surface level, doesn't seem necessary. While Time Stranger is a clear step forward from previous Digimon Story titles — like the Cyber Sleuth games — in terms of graphical prowess, it's certainly not the kind of release that you'd expect to be pushing current-gen systems.

What's more, the 30fps cap appears to be in place on the PS5 Pro as well — so this has to be some kind of considered decision on the part of the development team.
While we are left a bit baffled by this news, it is worth remembering that Time Stranger, like its predecessors, is a turn-based RPG. Higher frame rates aren't what you'd call a necessity when you're just clicking through menus and traversing simplistic environments.
