Fallout 4 Gets Free PS5 Update in 2023, Includes Creation Club Content

Haven't played fallout 4 but heard great things about the game from other people who've played it ,I shall certainly be very curious about the ps5 version and I may dip in if reviews and whatnot are very good when it releases sometime next year

I still have my copy..i might revisit it if it's free.

And yeah. The Bug fixes is kinda hilarious. After 8 years they decide to fix their game. (Or possibly make it worse? Bethesda after all so could go either way)

They'd better fix all the crashing around the built up areas. Game, vanilla with a few creation club things is currently unplayable on my Series S lol. Searching the crashes only brings up xbox results so I'm assuming it's not as bad on Ps4. I've given up trying to finish it.

I'm still hardlocked out of a quest path on ps4, so it's pleasing to know there's a small possibility this game breaking bug may be looked at in 2023

I just recently bought all DLC for F4. And now I am like 40hrs in 2nd playthrough, this time in mind to play it fully as slow as possible through all extra content. And now I have great and bad emotions at same time. Great to have some upgrade, but I am already playing it through now...

Would rather Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters.

@WallyWest those are too much work. Because those games need like full Reworks, while F4 will have only unlocked more power on PS5. Easy upgrade compared to port game from PS3 architecture

Between Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 I have 500 hours, both great games with tons of content, so this is welcome news. I do wish they would have gotten 76 to 60fps first, but I'll take it. Hopefully I can use my current save

Platted Fallout 4 with joy. Bought all the DLCs. So much fun! Combat was so satisfying.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time with Fallout 4 on the PS4, especially when I learned the trick to ignore the crafting limits in town and I built a huge bactcave with many lights and a huge power station, all before an update made said station pointless

If they do a free upgrade, I can happily skip the creation club stuff - hopefully if there is a free upgrade the DLC will also upgrade too

I couldn’t get into fallout 4, Been a big fan since the first one but it just didn’t feel like fallout anymore

@Robinsad @somnambulance same here..i loved fallout 3 and new vegas which i played on my pc. Brilliant games but fallout 4 on the ps4 was pretty bad as it just crashed on me and that stuttering frame rate was nausea inducing..might give this a go if its a free upgrade..

I'll upgrade if it's free, I won't put any money into this company now though since they abandoned PlayStation.

Didn't play much of it on ps4 to be honest,found it bland and boring ,there's only so much brown i can take

@Bentleyma Same here. I tried so hard to like it. But I seem to be a very setting-driven person. And I just don't like the wasteland aesthetic too much in general. Loved Skyrim too though.

They should make F1 and 2 remake, like Blizzard did Diablo 2. I would play the hell out of it again.

@AndyKazama nope, they never gave PS4 users who own Skyrim any free upgrades for anniversary edition, so expect to pay up unfortunately

Cool! While the main story left a lot to be desired, I did think the gameplay was top notch and very satisfying. The Far Harbour DLC was fantastic too. I'd love to see it running flat out with extra polish and I'm willing to put in another 700 hours on PS5.

The new creation club content that came with the recent Skyrim upgrade was well worth the admission price so I'm hoping there's a similar amount offered here too.

Another settlement needs my help in 4K.

If they drastically increase how much you could build in settlements that might not be too bad. Back when it came out my settlement ambitions where seriously bottlenecked by the PS4. It eventually killed that element for me which is a shame as it was the main thing that set it apart from 3/new Vegas in a good way.
Overall I liked 4, I didn't expect it to live up to the hype and I think I was rewarded for that mind set. But I'm not certain if I'll end up retuning to it either.

Good to see a PS5 version, but I would love a remastered Fallout 3 or New Vegas on PS5. Could be a partying gift before next Fallout entry becomes an Xbox/PC exclusive.

I have less of an issue with Fallout 4 getting re-released than Skyrim. At least this hasn't been released across 3 generations now, and I never did end up playing Fallout 4. Might consider finally doing that if I can fit it in at some point.

The update I was is for Sony to allow custom models from mods, the availability of mods for PlayStation is so much lower than other platforms.

@UltimateOtaku91 I mean it's free with the PS5 Collection, so if you have ps+ you own it already. If you don't, then why do you expect to get a free game for nothing?

@somnambulance yeah it wasnt quite as good as i thought it was going to be..the whole base building thing just didnt click with me and felt as though i had no option but to pursue it even though i was actually being bored to tears with it..turned out the tears were from the awful frame rate..

@theheadofabroom I understand, at retail this will be full price for a 7/8 year ps4 game which to me is a cash grab, but only at retail level. Good for those who already own the game though or get it via playstation plus.

@UltimateOtaku91 the good news is that the second hand market is flooded with copies at this point, and the PS4 version is regularly on digital sale, I picked up the GOTY after playing a bit for free because I wanted the DLC and I paid < £20, about 2 years ago

@theheadofabroom wait, so owning the physical version of fallout 4 still grants you the free upgrade? If so then there's probably going to be a surge in used game sales for fallout 4.

Is gaming that much in a freefall that's developers have to patch old games for new systems? Its playable, wether it's free or not, you would think they would just solely focus on new games.

@UltimateOtaku91 that's how it has worked for all my other physical games that got upgrades: Mafia Remake, CP2077, Fallen Order, Borderlands 3, etc etc

Good news! I have been playing this game on rotation on the PS5 and it occasionally breaks up at the very top of the screen. I’ll happily resume after the update

@EquiinoxGII one imagines they're doing it for Xbox but including PS5 because they want the CMA to let them have ABK

An update of the PS4 version would mean that it‘ll be also available for the game in thr PS Plus Collection. Good news!

I loved Fallout 4. The main story was a bit forgettable but the characters and other quests throughout were great. And, a voiced protagonist is always a plus point over a mute for me.
Playing this on the Xbox in 60fps with its FPS boost was a delight. Made the game feel much better.

@Martsmall only this community can moan about getting free upgrades.

@Fenbops well Sony charge for upgrades, Microsoft give them free. So charging must be the right option.

@Nf157 I built huge settlements on the PS4, sure it run pretty poorly in the towns afterwards but you absolutely could do huge builds on it

Lol it will still be using the same crappy engine , just like GTA 5 the PS4 pro could've got a patch to increase the framerate but nope lol hope everyone that complains about crossgen games won't be playing it on their ps5 seen as its a PS4 game

@WallyWest it would be awesome but I’m playing fallout 3 on my series x now and my god does it look beautiful in 4K and 60 fps like transformative

@dark_knightmare2 I've been playing Fallout 3 on my Series S this year and yeah it does look great but a proper remaster with console Mod support like Skyrim got would be amazing.

@WallyWest oh for sure I wouldn’t say no to that but I would rather New Vegas get that treatment since I feel it’s the better game and they only gave it the 60 fps boost on series x which is ridiculous.

@carlos82 I use to keep on building until the game said you've hit the limit 😅 I'm not sure if there was a console mod that stopped the restriction later on though, I stopped playing it before they arrived.

@Nf157 there's a very easy glitch as the game doesn't count how much you have built, only when you build or dismantle something. So craft any weapon, throw it on the ground and then scrap it in the build menu and the bar goes down, so now you can build more stuff

@WallyWest I grabbed an Xbox Series just to play these again along with other back compats like Fable/Dragon age Origins etc

Both FO3 and NV play and look great, 60fps and 1440p. I was never able to fin NV on PS3 due to it crashing constantly near the end so it's been great to replay it without all the fps issues etc.

The S is a really nice bit of kit to use as a retrobox.
