Yep, the Sonic movie sequel has been dated. After the original film was lambasted for its version of the character, it totally revamped the design, and ended up becoming a big success. It's one of the most successful game-to-movie adaptations, earning over $100 million in its opening weekend. A follow-up was inevitable, and it now has a date.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2, or whatever the title may be, will hit movie theatres on 8th April, 2022. We've known a sequel is coming since May of this year, when Variety reported it was in the early stages of development. With a release date locked and loaded, it seems work is moving forward on Sonic's next big screen adventure.

Of course i'm really excited about the sequel, the first movie was my favorite movie of this year.
Should be filming early next year then, based on that date.
Will movie theaters still exist by then?
So, it will be coming out at some point between the meteor strike, the global famine and the nuclear holocaust.

@Kienda @sonicmeerkat Soon as most of the global population has taken a highly effective vaccine...though there will be the impatient moviegoers willing to risk their own lives, strangers, and the lives of loved ones.
