An error message added to the source code of PlayStation’s official store page suggests that PS5 pre-orders will be restricted to one per person. An eagle-eyed ResetEra member dug into the website’s JavaScript, and found the disclaimer for customers attempting to purchase more than one system at a time.
The error reads: “You can only purchase one version of the PS5 Console: Disc or Digital. You have already added one PS5 console to your cart.” Presumably, this code is an example of the company preparing to release PS5 pre-orders in the near future. Unfortunately, we still don’t know the PS5 price or PS5 release date, so there’s still plenty for the organisation to communicate.
Speaking earlier in the week, marketing bigwig Eric Lempel indicated that the platform holder will give fans the heads-up on pre-orders, so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare. In other unrelated news, a ‘PS5 Compatible’ icon has been added to the aforementioned PlayStation Direct store page, which will presumably be used to indicate which items are supported by the next-gen device.

Oooh I didn't realise it had been confirmed that the DualShock 4 will work on the PS5. Obviously might not work on PS5 games but that it's compatible at all is a plus.

Well as someone who tries to get concert tickets regularly and they are bought out by people in huge stacks this is good news lol last time i preordered a console argos saved me after i preordered the ps4 with Blockbuster before their demise (R.I.P)
A smart move I guess but given the time of the year this come to no surprise! As people will be buying for themselves, friends and family for Christmas presents or just trying to gain profits from EBay.
This isn't gonna stop people buying it from multiple outlets and then selling it on ebay during Christmas time.

Well I just need one and it will last me more than 6/7 years like PS4 hopefully.
All people are going to do is use bots, and VPN's to get more than one anyways. That way they can sell them like they always do.

Not really effective if they dont restrict names on credit cards as well. If i have 4 credit cards i could buy one from each retailer.
I know there's legit reasons to buy more than one but this is good, hope stores have the limit, someone I know got the PS4 on launch and saw some guy walk out with 5 in a trolley, obviously not a gamer just scum who try to profit of the gullible/desperate.

It's better to wait for 6 additional months and get a PS5 Pro version, with 120fps, 8k support, audio enhancement and plenty more goodies for the same price. Besides, current games are not life-changing.

Not in a hurry. The only reason I'm getting a PS5 is due to the transition of Cyberpunk 2077 into the new console at no charge.

Any issues with the console (which is very possible with the 1st editions of any console) and you have zero proof you purchased it from a legit source for the warranty claim.

@Milt Large families with a decent income. I'm only getting an XSX within the next couple years, but if I had kids, I'd get them a couple cheaper XSS consoles so they don't have to take turns. If the PS5 had native back-compat with my PS1/PS2 Classics library, I'd get digital-only PS5 consoles for the kiddos. I'm a bachelor, though, so I spoil myself.
@Milt I would. I have 2 rooms that I play games in, and would like a system for my wife to play. I can wait for a second wave of systems to pick up another console, but would prefer to get it all done at once.
@Porco For most online retailers it's very easy to put an instruction into their back office system to recognise that an account has already purchased an item and then automatically cancel further orders of that item within a certain timeframe.

I'd like to have three or four kids, but I don't trust the system enough to open myself up to legal troubles like that. I'm a dude, it's stacked against me.
@EternalOptimist1 well my brother doesn't live with me and wants one so that's one down, also me and myy partner are avid gamers so we buy one for us each so we don't have to wait for each other to play, not a waste of money imo, it's my money so I can do what I please with it.

@seari84 perhaps, but multiple accounts under the same address? perhaps retailers will need to take it a step further and red flag orders with the same address, but i doubt they would resort to such drastic measures.
I don't think any/many of us have a problem with people buying extra consoles for the kids, etc. It's the people who want to buy multiples purely for profiteering that are being tw4ts.
@Tha_Likely_Lad I think only people that have kids that have never heard no before, buy from ebay when a new one is launched. There's no way they dont know they're probably paying nearly double the price.
eBay, amazon sellers, and walmart's website should all be avoided really, as they all gouge. Was trying to get the cyberpunk xbox from walmart, they had a version that came with an extra cyberpunk controller for 700, even with the extra controller it should have been only been 570 before tax, didnt come with any games or anything elee either and this was before it even got discontinued.
