Quantum Error, the PlayStation 5 cosmic horror, has attracted plenty of attention since being announced at the weekend. And now we know a bit more about it. Writing on Twitter, developer TeamKill Media has confirmed that the footage shown in the debut trailer is based upon a PC build leveraging similar specs to Sony’s next-gen console, however it believes the final version will “look better and better”.
The studio’s targeting 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second, and it’ll be taking advantage of the PS5’s ray-tracing technology. “The results are absolutely beautiful,” it explained when asked by one fan. The studio has also confirmed that it will be leveraging the PS5’s Tempest Engine to create a full 3D audio soundscape for the release.

There’s no word on a date just yet, with the studio refusing to commit to PS5’s launch date. “We have to see how development progresses,” it explained.

I will only accept ugly raytracing in 360p 15fps and lots of crashes
@Rhaoulos say it say it SEGA!
Wait targeting? So there's a chance it won't accomplish it? All games should be easily achieving 4k 60fps otherwise they might aswell make it for PS4.
@Juanalf Considering that 1080p, 60 FPS wasn't a standard thing this last generation, I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of sub-4K 30 FPS games. I bet developers will still think it's okay to release stuff that runs at 24-28 FPS too.
Developers don't understand that resolution and framerate are just as important (if not more important) than having crazy shaders and complex geometry. You could have the most realistic looking models ever, but if it runs like trash then it's going to look like trash!
Well, if it's close to a launch title, and they deliver this, good news for all. I wasn't expecting ray tracing in third party games so soon, let alone marketed as "beautiful".
Fps>fancy graphics>resolution.
Fight me
@Gmork___ gameplay > everything else
Not fighting anyway : P ... I wish we can have innovative gameplay situations vs "same old games with better graphics" , and oh I love better graphics. I was one of those whom ran to buy a 3dfx Voodoo (yes, the 4MB card) and short before that I had a Rendition Verite v1000 ... So I DO care about graphics.
Beautiful ray tracing? As opposed to? Ugly ray tracing? Is that a thing?
Refusing to even hint at a release date makes me wonder if this is the new, Deep Down. Could be years away from releasing.
@Shigurui if PS4 Pro could run native 4K at 30 FPS in some games, I don't think PS5 will have a problem simply adding ray tracing and upping to 60. People had the same types of doubts in PS4 Pro and they were all proven wrong.
@Juanalf targeting often means it has a dynamic resolution to keep the frame rate steady. So most of the game should be 4K/60FPS
@Shigurui exactly. No way is ps5 pushing ray tracing full 4k at 60fps more like up scaling from 1440p@60fps that I can believe for a console. Maybe the ps5 Pro can deliver that but il believe it when I trully see it.
@Shigurui gotcha. Im sure you know more than I do about tech but I remember people didnt think PS4 Pro would ever hit native 4k, and they thought vanilla PS4 couldnt handle VR and that Pro was a forced purchase since Sony knew vanila would be awful. I dont know the tech but Ive seen a pattern of comparisons to PC leading to mass underestimation of PS tech.
I guess Sony isnt the one saying 60 frames, 4k and ray tracing though.. it's these devs. If Sony said it I could know it's true but I dont know these devs enough to trust their grasp on hardware so maybe you're right
