The acclaimed survival game The Forest was announced for PS4 years ago, and it finally has a release date. You'll be living off the land in this spooky first person adventure on 6th November 2018.
Going by the latest post on the PlayStation Blog, it sounds like a pretty in-depth experience. The setup is that you're the survivor of a plane crash, and you need to go out into the wilderness to find your missing son. To do that, you'll need to feed and water yourself, as well as keep warm and secure at night. Most interestingly, it's completely open ended, so you can go about playing the game as you wish.
"[The Forest] encourages creativity. The game doesn’t tell you what to do, so everyone will experience their own version of the story. We try to give players as many options as possible and it’s been surprising for us how different individual playthroughs can be. Some players will focus on combat and exploration, whilst others will focus on building the most insane base possible."
It also features a full crafting and building system, allowing you to make weaponry, equipment, and even big shelters. What's more, you don't have to face the forest alone -- up to four friends can explore the world together. It certainly sounds promising, but are you interested in The Forest? Will you be taking your chances in the woods this November? Be careful what berries you eat in the comments below.

Not usually a survival fan but this does sound intriguing. If they've hidden away cool mechanics and crafting techniques for people to find, could end up sparking a really great community. Sounds like a game that would be fun to play and talk about/ theory-craft
From what I've seen of the game, the base-building looked fun. However, I'm not convinced there's enough fun things to do besides this, of how much content there is. These kind of games are super-subjective in their enjoyment though, perhaps more so than other genres. Personally, I'm really hoping for Stranded Deep to arrive on console, that would be my kind of game in this genre.
I’ll double dip on this for sure. Had it since it’s early access days on PC and while I haven’t played in some time I remember the design of the creatures being the thing of nightmares...especially when running into them in a darkened cave while you explore by the light of a match!!
WHAAAAAAT!!!!!?!?!?! NOO WAAY!!!! Ive been waiting/wishing for this since before it was ever annouced for ps4. Sssooooo FREAKIN EXCITED!
Figured it had fallen through the cracks. Today is a milestone!!! Next up.... The Hum: Abduction
This is actually a survival game that I'm interested in. Watched a ton of streams of it back when it was still early access on PC or something. Totally forgot about it since!
