E3 2016: Crash Bandicoot's Probably Going to Be in Skylanders: Imaginators

I don't think Crash will return in his own game for a while - at least not likely to get a mention at this years E3. I even voted that Crash won't be getting his own game in the recent E3 predictions. This is no surprise at all to me...

Its similar in essence to how MS has handled Conker. Teasing him and then sticking him in the now cancelled Project Spark.

Crash is owned by Activision and so is Skylanders so this seems logical to me. I can't see any developer picking up Crash just yet - certainly not enough time and far enough development to warrant a mention at this years E3...

I really believe it's going to be supplemental and not the only form of crash.

Irrespective of whether there is a new crash game besides this or not, Im somewhat suprised that no one (myself included) predicted something like this happening. It actually seems a rather obvious move now that I think about it, particularly when you consider the Bowser and DK amiibo available for Skylanders Wii U. Lets hope that this is not all that Sony have in store on the Crash front...

I really hope Sony wasn't stupid enough to front the cash for THIS! It bothers me that Sony can't be frickin' bothered to make a new Syphon Filter or Twisted Metal or Wipeout or keep Evolution around to make another Motorstorm but it can pay Activision for garbage nobody wants

From what I remember about DK and Bowser in SKylanders last year it sounded like Actiivison approached Ntinedo and paid for licensing rights. If anything I would say Activision asked Sony about it and Sony said ok, I dont' see why any money would have exchanged hands.

I really don't understand why anybody would think this is bad. This is a kids game made for the holidays. PS4 already has the older audience w/ Bloodbourne and Uncharted 4 and horizon coming. Wii U is dead as dead can be, w/ Ntineod predicting 800,000 sales for the 12 months April thru March. That's a bad month for PS4.

The NX won't be out until March. That leaves console buying families with a simple choice this holiday, PS4 or X1.

Obviously Crash isn't going to change a lot of parents minds, but I think it helps, nostalgia is strong w/ parents getting their kids into video games. Maybe it won't sell a lot of PS4, but I bet it would help the PS4 version of Sklyanders outsell the X1 version at the very least. And no competition from the NX version, and Wii U owners are just looking to move on at this point.

Anybody who says "I'm not buying a PS4 this holiday b/c Crash is in a Skylanders game." doesn't deserve to own a PS4.

I'm going to wait and see if they reveal a new Crash Bandicoot game at E3.

If not, well, this was some pretty cruel trolling. Kinda like Nintendo going: "hey, you want more Metroid, right? Well check out our new game, Federation Force." Or: "hey, don't worry, Animal Crossing will be making an appearance on Wii U... as a substandard board game that's driven by amiibos! Evil laugh"

I would be very disappointed if this is what all the signs were pointing to, not to mention that it wouldn't make any sense. The target audience of these games likely wouldn't even know who Crash is and most of us who do probably have very little interest in the Spyro spin off. More to the point why would it be a PS4 exclusive if Activision own him? Please just make real platformers again and not these complete rip offs

@Ralizah Do you really think it's like what Ntinedo did though? This woudln't be a bad Crash game (MP:FF), or a Crash game thats a board game that requires toys-to-life to play it (AC:aF), it's Crash making an appearance in another game.

If you want to compare something Sony did to MP:FF and AC:aF, well they already did that, Heroes on the Move. They took 3 of their greatest platforming mascots - Sly, Jak and Ratchet - and put them in a game that dind't have a jump button.

So Sony already had their MP:FF and AC:aF, Heroes on the Move was awful, so awful I can' teven recall what awful name they changed it to. Activison - which owns Crash - deciding to put Crash in a Skyladners game - really has nothing to do w/ Sony. It's up to Sony to make a Crash game or not, or up to Activision to make a Crash game or not, Skylanders isn't MP:FF or AC:aF, it's Crash making a guest appearance in another series. I'd say it's comparable to Bayonetta 2 having Samus, Peach and Link outfits.

I can understand peopel being upset about no new Crash game, but Crash being in SKylanders has nothing to do w/ whether anybody makes a new Crash game or not, it' s2 compeltley different things.

When they make a toys-to-life Crash game, or a Crash party board game, then that will be the time for all of this hate, b/c that will be a bad Crash game. A Crash guest appeanrace in another game series is just what it is, a Crash appearnace in another game series.

Have I mentioned how bad Heroes on the Move was? Peopel should be careful what they wish for before they get Crash: The Match 3 Game.

@rjejr The point is they're hyping up a beloved property and then doing something EXTREMELY disappointing with it. Not saying it's the exact same thing, but the feelings of anger and betrayal will feel similar.

In other news, Skylanders will soon be renamed The Island of Misfit PS1 Mascots. Maybe Gex will return as a playable character in that game as well..

But they've never been "hyping" anything. A guy wears a shirt and everybody freaks out. Wearing a shirt is called not being naked, it's not hype. They've never tweeted - "Get ready you all, a new Crash game is on the way!". That would be hyping. Last I checked Sony has never said a new Crash game is coming, so how can they be hyping up something they've never even mentioned? That makes no sense.

Just b/c a lot of crazed Crash fans imagine things that aren't there, you can't accuse Sony of hyping anything. Trolling maybe, but trolling is not hype.

As for Spyro, the first 3 games were really good, didn't like the darker sequels. And the Skylanders games are good. Not the last one, vehicles were wrong, but overall Skylanders is a very good fun series of games. Expensive as all get out b/c of the toys, but the games ares good. Skylanders didn't take away anything from those early Spyro games being good. Crash in Skylanders doesn't make the old Crash games bad, and it doesn't have anything at all to do w/ their being a new Crash game or not. Skyaldners is Skylanders, Crash is Crash.

The idea here is that Sony paid Activision to put Crash in Skylanders and then have that content be PS4 exclusive.

What makes this comparable to Federation Force is that Sony knows how much fan demand there is for a new Crash game. If all of the fan demand and all of the teasing they did only amounts to them paying Activision to make some exclusive content for Skylanders? Yeah, that's Federation Force levels of disappointing your fans.

Maybe they open with this, trolling us, then announce a standalone Crash title. Maybe.

Square have already done this with the FFVII remake. Firstly, they announced the remaster on PC when everyone thought it was a remake, then they came back 6 months later. Even then, they put World of Final Fantasy before it.

Let's wait and see what happens. In the age of leaks, it might be that companies are getting wise. If a new game does happen, it'd be the best double swerve possible.

How is that even possible? Spyro and Crash are practically brothers. No twins. Siamese twins. Plus, Skylanders has had every type of creature imaginable - little ones, big one, fast ones, slow ones - there is no way no how they coudln't make it fit. Plus, he's a known entity, why would Activison NOT want to put in a known entity that could sell them more copies of the game? That's like a movie producer saying - "No, sorry George Clooney, there's no place for you in our movie."

I'm not buying it.

Now what I will buy is that Activision wanted to put Crash in the game, every copy of the game, and then Sony said "No, only the PS4 version gets Crash." and Activison said "Well only if you pay us for the exclusivity." So I'll believe Sony paid for Crash to ONLY be in the PS4 version, but I'll never believe Activison din't want Crash in Skylanders. That just doesn't make any sense.

So really, Sony didn't pay Activison to put Crashin the game, Sony paid Actisiovn to NOT put Crash in the X1 and Wii U versions. There's a difference.

@Ralizah If there is a true Crash game announced and this is to promote that game then they are actually really smart. Us "older" gamers already know and love Crash and will buy the Crash game but the younger audience probably don't know who he is. This way the younger audience can play as him in Skylanders then want to buy his game. Genius if it actually happens! Suicide if it doesn't.

This as bad as putting Conker in Project Spark.

There better be a full game on the horizon cause this is just f**king awful and a tone-deaf decision.

Activision still owns Crash Bandicoot and Sony themselves stated as much on their own twitter in response to the 'rumours' and 'speculation' that you are taking as fact!!! If you actually bothered to do your research you would know this but you would rather quote some rumour because you can't be bothered to find the truth!

Helps if you ACTUALLY read the article because the 'insider' only wrote the 'poem' which doesn't even mention Crash. further down it says 'many people (not insiders but fans speculating) think Crash will be revealed because of his appearance in U4 - hence RUMOUR but the FACT is Activision own Crash and will do until 2021, unless they do something with the licence before then!!!

@rjejr If Activision said that, they probably said it after the release of the first game now that I think about it. Skylanders has grown and changed a lot since then. So they could have easily changed their minds since then.

Dont know if this has been said, but it could be supplemental. Like they are making a crash game and milk it with skylanders . It could go either way at this point.

Personally I like it better over there than over here - more older people and dads, here is mostly single men (I'd wager, if we did a demographic check, NL skews older. I mean, just look how insane this thread has become b/c an old videogame character is putting in a guest appearance in another videogame franchise. Things like that happen all the time over at NL, just look at Monster Hunter. Things are depressing over at NL b/c Nintendo is a mess, people have way more reason to be cynical and depressed - AC:aF, MP:FF, bad decision after bad decision. Sony puts out good game after good game, and 1 old character shows up in one other game franchise and Sony fans act like somebody attacked a family member.

It's been like that on the site always though. Not just in between hardware generations or in slow news periods. Even mid generation with games pumping out on both platforms, It's just a whole different mindset with people there.

Sony cut the cord with Vita and you got a little reaction that day, of course, but then people accepted it and moved on, as did I. Had it been across the yard though? Oh man. It would have been World War 3
