One title that we've quietly been looking forward to for quite a while now is Shadow of the Beast, which was supposed to be launching near the end of this month, on the 27th January – but according to the PlayStation Store, as spotted by VideoGamer, the hack and slasher has been delayed until the 2nd March. Of course, there's been no official word from Sony just yet, but we reckon that confirmation is probably heading our way in the very near future.
The PlayStation 4 exclusive really caught our eye back near the end of last year, when we got the chance to play it at EGX 2015. Long story short, we called it "bloody brilliant", and expressed plenty of excitement.
Are you looking forward to this one? Were you eager to give it a go later this month? Try not to massacre your fellow community members in the comments section below.

Makes sense. They just pushed Alienation off the 2nd March spot, presumably to make space for this.
@get2sammyb Noooooooo! Do we have a new date for Alienation? I need that game.

Hey, I'm cool with this - interested with how this will turn out. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing some Psygnosis re-releases. But of course, I'm still dreaming of a proper follow up to Hired Guns!
I'm sure I noticed the dates getting moved about a while ago on the PSN store, it seems to happen when they release new games for pre order around games show time and try to hide it amongst the new releases.
That's about 35 days, so I'm guessing more a scheduling issue than a game issue, how much can you fix in 35 days that couldn't be fixed with a patch 2 weeks after release? I'm fixated by calendars and dates but 35 days is basically just a month so not a huge deal. Well unless it's Dec 15 to Jan 17, before or after Christmas is a big deal, rest of the year it's just a month.
Honestly at this point I don't believe ANY initial release date announcement. Once we get to the second or third date then it starts to be more believable. Seems like no developer is able to hit their initial release date prediction anymore.
@get2sammyb
One might speculate that Alienation was supposed to be a Plus game but maybe negotiations didn't go as planned or Housemarque just wanted to see how they'd do on their own. So now Shadow of the Beast will feature in that month's Plus line up.
This is why I don't like Plus btw: it's killing some games before they even launched. More people will connect the dots like I did, gamers will expect that game's for free and when it eventually turns out we'll have to pay for it people are disappointed. Too many gamers speculate on (indie) games becoming part of Plus at some point and just like Steam sales, who are gradually being less ridiculous btw, it is ultimately bad for the industry I reckon.
@Boerewors 2nd of March is a Wednesday. Plus update happens on a Tuesday, so I can't see it being a Plus title.
@Johnnycide
Ah, that's righ! Used to be on a Wednesday in the Pal region. They could still work around that though. But it was not so much a statement about the game being free, but more about Plus and how it can ruin sales for these games.
When I read the news of Alienation being delayed on another site I jumped on over to the comments to see the dissapointment of gamers who can't wait to play another Housemarque title. Instead I found a discussion board full of speculation about how long it will take for the game to be avaliable for free on Plus. And when it eventually hits Plus, people don't care too play it anyway... I just hope MS and Sony will sit together and agree on a more sustainable service; I believe that in the end that would be better for the industry as a whole.
Yeesh. While I'm all for a delay that could help a game, it's safe to say Playstation Nation has gotten alot of them in recent times. It's admittedly hard to not get annoyed. Especially with Uncharted 4's raggedy development.
@KratosMD I'd honestly rather see R&C get pushed back, because U4 will dwarf all the presence Ratchet has. Yeah, we'd have to wait another month, but I'd rather see R&C succeed.
I think it's wishful thinking to expect Shadow of the Beast or Alienation to be PlayStation Plus games by the way. They're not "big-budget" games by any stretch, but a lot of effort and resources has gone into them.
@Churchy just gotta say a hearty high five for the Devin pic
@viciousarcanum I was wondering if someone would pick up on that! Hearty high five in return good sir. Now let us celebrate with a Ziltodian cup of coffee. Indeed.
Is this game a sidescroller?
Alienation will NOT be ps plus filler any time soon. They have done their service in giving us resogun, quite possibly the best plus game for the ps4 to date. I think Sony sees great potential in them and will allow them to turn their profit before offering to put the game on plus for a lump sum. I could see HouseMarque turning into another one of the great Sony first party studios, if that is what they so choose.
Sony need to hurry up and aquire Housemarque!
