The critical reception may have been more mixed than a bag of sweets, but it seems that Beyond: Two Souls has fared much better in the retail arena. Quantic Dream co-founder Guillaume de Fondaumière has revealed that the interactive drama sold over one million copies in 2013, with 70,088 units stemming from its native France. That's a figure greater than its predecessor Heavy Rain managed in 12 weeks.
There had been some speculation that the innovative escapade had flopped, but fortunately that’s not the case. Some strange plot twists aside, we adored the Ellen Page-fronted adventure, describing it as a game that "you should play” in our review. With production wrapped up on the PlayStation 3, the Parisian developer is now turning its attention to Sony’s next generation console, where it’s working on a title rumoured to be named Singularity.

I started watching Freaks and Geeks last night and remembered I haven't played this yet b/c the lead actress bears a very strong resemblance to Ellen Page. Strong enough that if F & G hadn't come out first I'm pretty sure Ellen Page would sue her.
Still need to play this game.
Glad to see it has reached 1 million sales.
Rumor has it that they're turning this into a game: http://youtu.be/1EvqiGm0wz8
Sony needs to replenish stock: http://youtu.be/5aqrhL0-Ehg
I still need to play this....I waited for it for ages then time and life flew by. I'm pleased it has sold well
Personally I really liked Beyond, though not quite as much as Heavy Rain. Glad it is selling well. I hope it has long legs.
Certainly not deserving of much of the hate it received from some quarters, but I do understand what some people found frustrating about it, its not perfect, I just think they missed the great things about it. People are missing a good (and different) experience if they haven't played it.
Good to see that unique titles in the gaming industry can indeed generate a healthy amount of sales
for years now my ps3 hasnt been able to read discs so ive purchased games digitally. PLEEEEASE BRING THIS AND HEAVY RAIN TO PSN PLEEEEEEASE. ive already owned and beaten heavy rain but i would buy it again. i am DYING to play this.
I didn't play tHis yet but I loved heavy rain. My ps3 bluray drive died and Sony chose not to make this downloadable through psn . Now I wait.
Loved the demo
I liked it. Glad it hit 1 million and hopefully it will go way 'beyond' that in sales because if it was a flop(like Xbox players keep saying on the internet) then no one would make games that are different and the PlayStation brand would just end up boring like the Xbox brand :-/
Only a million? Come on people, you buy that shite FIFA by the tons and you don't give this masterpiece a chance?
If you are going to play it, do yourself a favour and play it with another person together, preferably a woman. It will be a whole different game. The game I believe the developers had in mind. Simply brilliant.
I really enjoyed it. I really didn't like heavy rain but that didn't put me off. No it isn't a typical gaming experience, and? I hope they eventually produce a sequel to this but I think the chances are very slim.
This makes me very happy. Get in there, Dwavid Cwage!
@Sutorcen EXACTLY! I honestly couldn't agree more to this! My girlfriend loved this game when I finally managed to convince her to play it with me.
@KAPADO This game would easily be near a 50GB download Upgrade that hard drive while you get a new disc drive!
@Grockumus its over $100 to fix the lens. I rather add $100 more towards buying a new ps3 with a bigger hardrive or wait to play it on playstation now since I already have a ps4 and a ps3 that doesnt read discs.
@KAPADO $100 to fix the lens?! Damn, in that case, your choice would make way more sense.
@KAPADO Or you could buy a PS3 with YLOD which you should be able to find at under 30$ or even free and rip the drive (or just the head) off that one and fix yours.
