There are more than a couple of ghouls ‘n’ ghosts in this brand new trailer for Deep Down. You may remember the title being announced during Sony’s bumper PlayStation Meeting earlier in the year. Now publisher Capcom has followed up with confirmation that the PlayStation 4 title is being developed by its Online Games group.
That suggests that the release will be an online-only affair – perhaps an MMORPG of some kind – but the details are still desperately scarce. We’ll apparently learn lots more at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Still, there’s some new footage to tide you over until then, which doesn’t quite have the same visual punch as the initial unveiling.
Are you disappointed with this latest development regarding the PS4 release, or are you maintaining an open mind until more information is revealed? Let us know in the comments section below.

I wasn't really interested in this anyway when I seen it during the reveal. Im not suprised the visuals aren't as good as the PS4 unvieling, that was obviously a target render or something back then. Details are still scrace on this to draw any kind of conclusion tho
@MadchesterManc I still think it could be really cool. If this is Monster Hunter/Dragon's Dogma-esque, but co-op with massive player lobbies, it could be awesome.
@get2sammyb It could very well be good. Im just more of a JRPG guy myself. These dungeon crawling, skeleton chopping, dragon slaying, longsword wielding ironclad knight RPG's dont interest me too much anymore. Theres been a few Ive liked this gen (the original Dragon Age n Oblivion mainly) so it may click when I get to try it out. Hopefully the online would be as you've stated. The last thing people want is for a game that looked to have potential turn out to be a full on MMORPG, Monthly subs n all lol
can't tell what it's going to look like from this trailer tbh.
but from the name and this teaser i will derive it is a dungeon crawler of some sort lol.
also, more online based fantasy games for consoles is a good thing in my opinion, but they always take a hit graphically. Elder Scrolls Online for PS4 doesn't even look graphically as good as Skyrim for PS3. Different visual style, but done so on purpose so more resources can go to the online component.
Either way Capcom does make some good games, they've definitely sparked my interest enough to follow this game's true unveiling.
Most likely this is Dragon's Dogma 2 with a mutliplayer component meaning they should stop making monster hunter games right now.
I'll be excited about this if:
#1: It's not first person.
#2: It's not suscription based.
@Snorky Same.
there is no way the game is going to look like that trailer if its an online game.....no way, the amount of resources that would demand for it to look that good as an mmorpg would be insane. I mean not even my GTX680 would smoothly run it maxed.
I am really interested to see how this turns out as i loved the way the supposed live gameplay trailer looked. I have to be optimistic because i really do want games to look that fricken amazing in the future on a console running the specs we are going to get.
One job, Capcom. One job. Make Dragon's Dogma 2.
If this isn't Dragon's Dogma 2 with a mutliplayer then someone needs to be sacked.
The whole pawn system in DD was awesome but I don't understand why they couldn't replace a pawn with a coop character. Hopefully DD which allows online coop would be so awesome I reckon i'd explode.
I'm very happy for the gamers that like online games. This will be one more excellent game on the menu for them. Unfortunately, I don't really do the online thing. Never have, probably never will. I like single-player experiences- rich, storied experiences, or reflex-bending platformers, or chess-like SRPGs, or immersive and fun action/adventures... I have, from time to time, engaged in some online races in Sonic Racing Transformed and Mario Kart 7, and I MIGHT give Destiny a try even though I despise the idea of a single player game integrating online and disguising itself as some evolutionary new intermingled MP genre. But that's about it. When I do play with others, I like couch multiplayer. My Wii U will be good for that with games like DKC Tropical Freeze, and my soon-to-be PS4 will be good for that with a little FPS co-op in Killzone Shadowfall. But to be honest, I'm buying PS4 in good faith that the PS3 trend continues. I want games like Kingdom Hearts 3, Metal Gear Solid 5, Mirror's Edge 2, Final Fantasy 15, etc. But I swear, PS4 better not turn out to be a cesspool for online gaming. Already I've seen The Elder Scrolls Online, The Crew, The Division, Destiny and now Deep Down get me all excited, just to be crushed when I found out the games were NOT offline singleplayer. Sony and MS are not enforcing mandatory online... maybe they don't have to. Maybe the publishers are going to do it for them. If that turns out to be the case- if I see FF15 turn out to be like FF14 Reborn, or if I see any of my fave offline single player games evolve to online only- I'm out. I'll sell the damn system I will.
