Best PS4 Online Multiplayer Games
Below is a full list of the best PS4 online multiplayer games. These are our favourite multiplayer games to play online, as determined by our editorial team.
20. Destiny 2 (PS4)
Destiny 2, like its predecessor, has walked a rocky path, but Bungie has brought the online shooter to a good place after some hefty gameplay changes and expansions. Hopping into the game to tackle some raids and other challenges with your buddies remains an entertaining pastime, with the promise of bigger and better loot always keeping you going.

19. FIFA 21 (PS4)
You can always count on FIFA to provide a substantial online offering. Coupled with the game's suite of local multiplayer options – including an expanding array of excellent party games – you simply can't go wrong when it comes to a game of virtual footie with your mates. Whether you’re building an unstoppable squad in Ultimate Team or leveraging the human cheat mode Cristiano Ronaldo in a not-so-friendly, EA Sports’ soccer sim ranks for its sheer wealth of options alone.
18. Titanfall 2 (PS4)

Respawn's fast-paced FPS is often celebrated for its single player campaign, but just as entertaining is the brilliant online multiplayer. Players start off as agile soldiers, but after a while, they're able to call down a Titan, a giant mech suit with high firepower and some fun abilities. The combination of the nimble, wall-running Pilots and the hulking, powerful Titans makes for some cracking online battles.
17. The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited (PS4)

The Elder Scrolls Online does an absolutely terrific job of combining the open world adventure of Bethesda's classic series with the massively multiplayer shenanigans of an MMORPG. This is exactly what you'd expect a marriage of the two different game types to play like, and is the first in the Elder Scrolls series to let you explore most of Tamriel since Arena. This is well worth a look, especially while you wait for Elder Scrolls VI.
16. Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)

The online multiplayer in GT Sport is brilliant. You'll never struggle to find a race, for one thing, but it's the emphasis on good driving and civil sportsmanship that makes it a hugely enjoyable experience. Live events are always on the go, and in between, there are lobbies and warm-up laps to partake in. Petrol heads need look no further to get their online racing fix.

I still play Overwatch every week with my friends. It's been over a year. It is getting a bit tiring though.
Weird. I fully expected The Witcher 3 to top the list.
Ha came here to see where journey was listed 🙊🙊
Nice varied list. Not my order but nothing would be. Only game I don’t think should be there is battlefield 1. A beautiful game but didn’t enjoy the multiplayer at all. Would definitely swap this out with another game. Even battlefield 4. We so need a PS4 toejam & Earl.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 while not a horrible game it's just a disappointment compare to the originals
Still going hard on Overwatch, easily my most played PS4 game. Played every season since beta and can't see myself stopping anytime soon, the new LFG system has been an absolute game changer
My experience of diablo online was that lots of people were cheating and random hackers would boost you hundreds of levels against your will.
Would have liked to have seen Dead by Daylight on the list.
I still play Titanfall 2 Frontia Defence mode almost weekly I love it the game is underestimated a lot the story was actually quite good and for that price of £7.20 on disc you can't go wrong. Shame it got launched again between BF1 and COD because it would have got more notice had it been after or well before here's hoping TF3 will get a better window. I only play Diablo on pc love 3 but it will never beat Diablo 2 that was far far better, Destiny 2 I got bored of after a week and I'll look into it when the legendary edition comes out at a cheap price. Overwatch friend gave it to me I'm so crap at it I haven't touched it in a year I really am rubbish at it, it seems years of BF have made me stale in other FPS games.
Online multiplayer ain't really my thang but FFXIV and GTA Online were a blast.
For Honor needs to be on this list and high. Especially considering all the Battle Royale and COD junk you have on this list. Siege shooyodbalso be above Overwatch and Fortnite.
I still find Overwatch fun and I'm looking forward to Baptiste hitting PS4. To be fair, I main Brigitte and D.Va and I'm barely scraping Plat so it's not as if I'm playing at a high level but it's a great time-killer.
I had fun with Overwatch but i got tired of it. I hated that had to play non stop to get the costumes. In the end it was a chore and i traded it in for a discount.
warhammer vermintide.for honor.elder scroll online. the division is way better than overwatch .word up son
No love for the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer on here? I'm surprised. It may not be very deep, but then neither is Uncharted; it's just a heck of a lot of fast-paced, manic fun. Aside from a certain galaxy far, far away it's the only game that's kept me playing online multiplayer for more than ten minutes.
Monster Hunter World & GTA 5.
MHW and Overwatch for me.
@RogerRoger I loved both Uncharted 2's and Uncharted 3's multiplayer mode. The mystical power-ups in Uncharted 4's multiplayer mode didn't really do it for me. It also didn't have mini story driven multiplayer missions that the previous games had.
I'd put GTA Online at #1 any day. Playing NFL with cars on a highway, vehicles that transform into anything, what doesn't it have... Half of the rest are Battle Royale or "just kill each other" modes.
@nessisonett I mained DVA and played a lot in the past but stopped about November last year I had the game since june 2016 but started to play less and less in 2018.
I play fortnite but people are too good ( i play too many different types of games lol).
People I played with a lot in the past still play overwatch but they stopped with fortnite so only know one person who I played overwatch with that plays lol
Overwatch will be remembered but it was never going to be tf2 that game I just don't see being beaten wish they made tf3 as I heard they ruined tf2 on pc. rant over
GTA game of all time, why it was put on the 11th place? it's not fair (((
The Last of Us' Multiplayer is better than any game on this list.
Tekken 7 is the pinnacle of online competitive and Monster Hunter World is in my view the best for online cooperative. Also, strange that Battlefield V was higher on the list than Titanfall 2. TF2 is the highest quality shooter for PS4.
@gingerfrog battlefield 1 i dont see that one in the list
@WetWildWendy
😂 It was when I wrote my comment in Aug 2018, glad it's not now, doesn't deserve a spot.
Weak!! This is the worst gen
@CrimsonKing97 Facts
Overwatch's great. Unlike most PvP FPS games you see nowadays, the characters in Overwatch actually have cool personalities and interesting backstories. Oh, and it's also really fun to play.
I get how personal lists like these are, but the free-to-play cooperative Warframe is one that cannot miss imo.
As a parent, I have so much appreciation for a game like Fall Guys. There are so few online multiplayers that are kid-friendly and fun for grownups at the same time.
Hmmm came o here to check where Genshin Impact might lie. I never really play online modes but I do love Battlefront 2. I get really bored of battle royale games and for some reason they're at the top end of the list. If you play Overwatch would you really bother with Apex? I played the Beta for Hunters Arena and whilst it was more unique as it had enemies that drop loot and help level you during battles before fighting other people, at the end of the day it was still too repetitive. Basically a roguelite because you lose everything at the end of battle.
Destiny 2 last spot?
Knockout City higher than Titanfall 2?
Fartnite nr. 2???
Says something when you have the top 2 games being 4+ years old. Apex would've been on top for me.
