Spawn wave channel's new video on the leaking of the Steam machines controller..... a written review of someone who used it and more importantly its price.

Its priced at $100 just for the controller. Lmao good luck with all this Valve.

If this machine had specs to run a game like CP2077 at ultra with path tracing and everything the PC master race touts and says us console gamers don't have, I'd be onboard. But this things specs are a base ps5 and all indications are that its gonna be possibly as high as $1k. The controller alone is $100.

Yousef-

If they’re charging that much for the controller than I suspect it’s a controller price hike issue, if I’m being selectively optimist. But the deck was already way pricier than it should’ve, and there’s no reason to believe the machine won’t at least be a 100 quids pricier than the deck.
So yes, I do picture a price range of around 800 to a thousand.

Playing Xenoblade, feel free to add me on switch or steam.

@Yousef- $1k for six year old tech? whos this thing supposed to be for? If you already like steam that means you already have a PC to access steam. Console gamers who would like to see what steam has to offer.....can't see them paying $400 more then the base ps5, for the same tech just to check out steam. They don't even really have their own AAA exclusives either. But still, that price point is atrocious for what you are getting.

I guess this thing is supposed to be for filthy rich gamers, who don't care that its overpriced tech and want steams library. That life must be nice.

@StitchJones the handheld pc market in general has been quite abysmal price range, so I suspect the machine won’t have any motive to go against the grain, especially given how the deck OLED is really close price-wise to the Ally and Legion GO (and similar devices).

For a while, the base deck offered a great deal, being powered by a custom Linux build and being able to run way more games than what people claim (but struggles with any unreal games unless you manually modify the .ini files yourself, which the dexterity of highly depends on the game)

Given that the processor for the machine will be 4x times the power of the deck, and seeing how the OLED (last I checked) was around £700/$700 (bear with me here since I can only find it on resellers and refurbished stores), it should safe to suspect a minimum of an 800, as the deck’s (more powerful) rivals were ranged around that as well.

But hopefully that won’t be the case. The base deck served me well (and the RG slide is also really helpful), the new machine might not appeal to me if the price to feature ratio leaves something to be desired.

@Yousef- You seem to know about all this much more than me. I've been gaming since intellevsion, for many decades, but have never once owned a gaming PC. Its not my thing. I will always prefer consoles. However, since xbox is dead to me moving forward, I wouldn't mind having the Steam machine as my new 2nd gaming platform.

But once I heard this thing was only gonna be on par with a base ps5 tech wise, esp for that price tag, I laughed, stopped paying attention and forgot about it fast. But the only thing that will turn me on is if they have a premium skew with way more horsepower. Is there any talk, or does Valve have any history to suggest that maybe they will make an elite model of this thing?

If the tech inside was insane, with all the bells and whistles the PC master race keeps touting over consoles, I would pay the premium for sure.
