Splatoon 3 is laughable and makes CoD games look new and innovative. Mario Strikers… I love the originals but this looks like it’ll fall back on the same in-game economy issues that plague all their newer sports games with the gear and stats system. Hopefully it has a full story mode.
Switch Sports I’m very happy with even if there aren’t many sports. Golf being added means there’s potential for DLC.
Squeenix really did a great job and carried the momentum with a couple of great looking remasters/remakes minus the KH Cloud thing. Plus Toblerone Strategy.
Xenoblade 3 I’d probably never play, the first one is a bit of a chore to play and I dropped off after about 50 hours of nothingness.
Mario Kart 8 DLC is no replacement for 9 but hey, I’ll get it for free. 48 courses is great value.
Mother 1 and 2 great to see but again, played them a few times and I’d rather just play them via RetroArch these days along with 3.
No Zelda or Metroid Prime 4 or Bayo 3 is a bit disappointing so I guess they’re a while off.
Fire Emblem Warriors Three Houses irritates me for the exact same reason the BotW one and Persona 5 Strikers did. It’s a long running series in which the older titles get less love so the first musou Fire Emblem one was a great way to give those older games their time in the limelight. So having one based solely on the newest one feels a bit ‘upsell’-y to me, drawing in only fans of the newest title. Besides, not a fan of the yass queen attitude around Edelgard who’s literally a Nazi.
Portal is cool but again, for the millionth time, played it years ago on another platform.
So I guess Kirby is the one new game I can truly say looks innovative. Decent chunk of gameplay with new mechanics. Hopefully it comes together.
@LtSarge I really like XBC2, can’t get into 1 at all though and I’ve tried 3 times. It’s just really boring. I hope XBC3 is more like 2 overall.. seems that way in the trailer.
@kyleforrester87 I did play a good chunk of XBC1 on 3DS but I never finished it for some reason. Maybe it was because it became boring for me as well But yeah, I have the remake on Switch so I'm willing to give it another go. I just love the scope of these games, very massive and ambitious JRPGs.
Am I going to have to finally buy Mario Kart 8 again on the Switch 🤔😅. I haven't bought it yet because I already own and 100%ed the Wii U version and it's DLC.
I wish the new courses were standalone as a MK: Classics Collection or something. Or maybe I will just wait for the pipedream physical release that is MK8: Deluxe-ier Edition.
Biggest highlight is playing the Tour tracks on a console! I was hoping for paid port/remix of Tour on Switch without all the freemium stuff but I'm happy enough with the tracks making their way over.
Yeah I might have to finally get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch as well, having previously had the Wii U version. Waluigi Pinball and MK7 Rainbow Road are the tracks I'd most like to see return.
That new Kirby trailer got me interested in it, the game is looking sweet. And I could do with playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before the new one hits.
Today's Nintendo Direct was hype honestly! I'm looking forward to playing Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, and both Earthbound games.
Also Kirby and the Forgotten Land too, but we already knew the release date.
@RogerRoger I remember @Tasuki speaking fondly of the Wii version of The Force Unleashed because of the motion controls. The fact that they're basing the Switch version on the Wii version has definitely made me more interested in this game.
@LtSarge Yeah the motion controls were just perfect for that game. I tried to play the Xbox 360 version cause it was free with Gold and without the motion controls it was just dull. It didn't feel special at all and just felt like any other game. Definitely give this game a try on the Wii or the Switch if they have the motion controls it really adds to the immersion.

Yeah, there seems to be a bit of a back & forth on the NL comment section of the Force Unleashed article about whether or not the Wii version is the definitive version (because of the motion controls, and an added single player level & multiplayer mode that don't exist in the PS360 versions).
I think I bought it on Steam, but I may wait to see how this Switch version pans out.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I got the Split Pad Pro today, it’s really good! Much more comfortable than the Joycons, the buttons all work properly and they feel a lot more secure docked to the Switch. Really, there is a lot of movement on the Joycons in comparison.
@kyleforrester87 I haven't used them as much since I got the Switch Lite (since it's my go-to device for 2D games), but the SPP is fairly comfortable, and pretty useful for action games like Astral Chain and Monster Hunter Rise in handheld mode.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@kyleforrester87 Oh dang, that has been on my watch list for evs. I was finding playing games was hurting my fingers when using the face buttons on some games. I've got the Pro controller for playing on the TV, but obviously can't really use that in handheld mode.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder if you play handheld a lot, or don’t because it’s just not that comfortable, it’s certainly worth it.
I got a similar grip accessory for my 3DS, and as a result finally beat Bravely Default 1. It turned the console into an ugly beast but it actually made it useable for the hours necessary to beat a long JRPG without suffering serious musculature injury
@lolwhatno Yeah I love a good underdog story when they manage to turn things around for the better. It warms the cockles I tell ya! And I apologise in advance if you do not get that last sentence.

My interest is primarily with Icewind Dale, the setting and Jeremy Soule soundtrack being the main draws for me, although by all accounts Planescape is the better game. I hear Icewind Dale is tough and particularly combat focused, though. Might struggle since honestly my grasp on the D&D rules is less than great.
