@Haruki_NLI The Wii U Deluxe Pack came with Nintendo Land. I don't think it was pre-installed though. Just a physical copy with the console

@TheFrenchiestFry I forgot Nintendo Land existed. Yeah that was a disc you got with the Premium Wii U.

I say Premium like it was worth anything.

@Haruki_NLI Returnal was DOA at €80. But it's a lot easier to swallow, because I can already find copies for around €60. In a couple of months it will hit 30 or 40. And that's another difference. If you're willing to wait a couple of months, you can find most PlayStation games for a lot cheaper. Nintendo games rarely ever lower in price. Switch games from 3-4 years ago are still 60. The Advance Wars 1+2 is still gonna be a 60 game in 3 years from now.

Cadence of Hyrule was just an indie game with a Zelda skin, I would've laughed my arse off if they would've charged 60 for that.

Problem with a lot of these 2D platformers and Metroidvanias is that they have incredibly strong competition from indie games. And those games are around €10-20. So yeah, they need to do a lot more to justify why their game is 60. Take something like 3D Mario instead. How many truly good 3D platformers are there for a fraction of that price? None probably. Same with Metroid Prime. Same with Zelda. You can't just buy a brilliant Metroid Prime-like experience for 20. You can for Metroid Dread.

Does it matter that it's 2D? Maybe. I think DK Tropical Freeze was worth the 60. But that was one of the best platformers I've ever played.

Damn digital PS5. Sony on every prior system let their digital prices drop but not this time. Nope. Cant do that. Heck the recent sale was £10 off. That's still £60.

Never thought Id see a Nintendo sale look good by comparison to something.

@nessisonett I am not rooting for that game at that price. I'd happily buy a new Advance Wars for 60, even if the graphics don't appeal to me. But not this collection.

@Octane you mention indies, and indies have definitely changed my perspective. You can buy Wargroove for less than 20, and it is better looking too.

@Haruki_NLI Comparing a new system with an old one, with regards to second hand and deals is not really fair.

@Octane I was completely fine with Tropical Freeze at 60. With New Super Mario Bros at whatever price it was. With most of those new games.

But when you're doing low effort remakes? Nope. And Nintendo does a lot of those these days.

I'd be all in, even paying full price for a full scale remake of Advance Wars, done with a budget like that of the Demon Souls or Crash remake.

Same with Skyward Sword, which I also planned on getting (but not anymore).

Have to add that of course everyone can feel different on this subject. Maybe for some these deals provide a great deal, power to you.

@Kidfried Ah that. Yeah sales historically on Sony systems, by now, have been better than just £10 off, even on first party titles. Heck I have a feeling Sony wants their games to hold Nintendo value, and keep that price save for sales.

And with a digital only system on the market, I can't blame em really.

@Haruki_NLI Yah, don't buy digital. Returnal €58.99. Demon's Souls €59.95 (was €49.99 in March). These are all €80 games mind you. Even Ratchet & Clank is already €66.99.

But yeah, like Kidfried already mentioned. The PS5 is still a new system, so it's not entirely fair to compare it one-to-one to the Switch. Give it some time, and the sales will be even better. Demon's Souls won't be €60-80 in a year from now. Though still, cheapest copy of BOTW I can find is €56.95.

@Octane As soon as PS5s are readily available, software prices will drop hard. Current high prices have nothing to do with digital or physical, but availability.

@Kidfried Availability yes, but with physical stores are competing for the best price, whereas Sony doesn't have competition for digital sales. That's why you can find physical PS5 games for less than full price. On the PS Store they're likely still full price.

The North American special edition is beautiful. Really glad it came over. We never got the special edition for Nocturne HD.

@Ralizah Looks beautiful. I'm buying the digital edition, but that steelbook does look really good.

Man SMTV is hype. Not sure it's for me though.

That's the problem with big time investment games in series I'm new to, and being too close to Diamond and Pearl remakes is an issue. Plus I'd have no time off work (assuming I still have the patience to work there) due to company policy of no holiday around the holidays.

Bleh. Too many games man.

@Haruki_NLI I'd rather try something new than play a remake of something I already played, but to each their own of course. It does make it very easy for me to choose which games to skip this year, sorry Nintendo.

And I bought Mario 64 this year for the third or fourth time or something? So... I guess I don't always buy new stuff. But I should! That's why I decided not to buy Advance Wars and Skyward, but instead focus on new stuff like Deathloop, SMTV and Ratchet & Clank.

@Kidfried If I had more disposable income at the moment If be more sure. Same with Mario Golf since the friendos want to have fun with it.

But work cut our hours down, I'm on 24 a week instead of 40, they refuse to go higher, and the company's automated payslip emailing system (which is how you see how much tax etc you pay per month from what you earned that month) has failed to upload a payslip to me twice in a row now.

So not insignificant financial information is somehow missing so I can't exactly work out where the money is coming from, how much I lose monthly due to the new tax year, how much I get from paid holiday is a damn mystery.

So as of now I'd rather spend money on stuff I know I'll enjoy and eat into my backlog.

Sucks but that's how it is.
