@ralphdibny I must have gotten lucky. Forgot my password so had to reset it as quickly as possible to get my order in! I did it before the emails were sent out though as I had a feeling they would be early.

@nessisonett seems I was well off anyway as I hadn't been checking the internet for the last 5 hours. Maybe they'd sold out well before I got my sub sorted but the website just didn't say it was out of stock until I actually subbed. I could increase the number of controllers before I subbed but was just unable to add them to cart.

So annoying though. I can't remember what happened with the SNES controllers as I managed to get in early on them. Not sure if restocks before release date were a thing and if they'll be a thing this time

@ralphdibny I really want one of the SNES controllers but they’ve been out of stock for ages!

@nessisonett ahh they used to get infrequent restocks well after release too. It's funny they can't shift the NES joy cons though lol. I actually bought one of those pro controller docks recently so I could keep the NEs joy cons charged as I literally never use them

@ralphdibny Yeah I see no reason to get the NES ones. They just look a bit rubbish whereas the SNES ones are more appealing and you can get the one instead of paying more for two.

@nessisonett yeah I suppose you are right on that one. They have even discounted the NES pair down to like half price in the past I think!

I just had to have them though. The most unique official joy cons ever. I love that they slide on to the console despite how beautifully and bizarrely impractical that is!

I kind of wished the SNES ones had a rail too. Maybe if they sliced the top of the controller with the L+R buttons off and made that part into the wrist strap clip that normal joy cons had then it could have worked. Doing that to an N64 controller is probably a stretch though!

@Keith_Zissou Cheapest N64 I saw on eBay was £40 with no games.

I'd argue that's better long term value, as some of the games are still relatively cheap. At least until WATA booms that market too.

The problem is to the average Joe, £34.99 for over 120 NES, SNES, N64, Mega Drive, with more games to be added confirmed, plus access to Animal Crossing DLC, monthly Game Trials for a week at a time, cloud saves and online play is a much much easier swallow.

And here in the UK, eShop Game Vouchers are still a thing. So you can get two Nintendo published games for £84.99 instead of £99.99, or £119.99 in the case of Smash and BOTW.

Add it all up, £34.99 is even easier to swallow, which I empathize with.

@LtSarge Yeah, I pointed this out in the comments for the original article about the credits situation. Pretty horrible working environment and to see people gleefully calling the workers every name under the sun is disgusting. You honestly don’t think these comment sections can get any worse but NLife finds a way.

Don't know how far into it this is, but last night I ran into Quiet Robe & defeated my first Chozo mini boss in Metroid Dread.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Finished Metroid Dread there! Excellent ending, tough as nails final boss and let’s just say ‘interesting’ twists in the final section. My only tiny little downsides are that it doesn’t ever feel like you’ve ‘finished’ an area and the E.M.M.I. formula is very much stretched to as thin as it could possibly be. Otherwise it’s a solid 9/10 the whole way through. Very very good game.

It's painful waiting for Metroid Dread.

@nessisonett How many hours did it take (roughly) to concluse your playthrough?

I am (pleasantly!) surprised by how tricky I'm finding this game.... especially considering I am also working through Act3 of Returnal!

I'm getting lost a lot, but enjoying the process of figuring out where to backtrack and go next.

It really is quite refreshing to be playing a Switch game, especially a Nintendo IP, where there is a difficulty curve and some actual challenge! Last night I beat Boss2 (Kraid?) but it definitely took me a few tries.

I wish Nintendo would invest more time in pushing out solid/dynamic new entries for beloved IPs... and nice to see that Dread is getting received well in the gaming community.

Perhaps I'm just not as good at games as I thought, or I'm too cocky after beating Returnal Act2, but I am definitely finding Dread a nice challenge!!

@CJD87 Final clear time was just over 6 hours, I’d say that it took me about 9 in real time!

@CJD87 It is kinda strange, right? Playing a Nintendo game that actually offers a good challenge. I still remember the the previous two generations where Nintendo made most of their games easier and if they weren't, they'd at least offer lots of help if you had trouble. Metroid Dread on the other hand is as pure of a hardcore experience as it can get. The boss fights are seriously really challenging and I love that. Very refreshing indeed!

@LtSarge - Im honestly not sure how so many people claim to have gone into Dread completely blind and beat within 6-7hrs…

Maybe it says more about me as a gamer, but im about 8hrs in and have only just beaten the underwater boss (4th boss?).

Really enjoying the sense of mystery and loneliness, alongside learning the boss patterns.

Purposefully allowing myself to get a bit stuck also, avoiding guides etc - so I feel I get my money’s worth!

But yes nice to have a Nintendo IP game that isn’t overly patronising for once (Skyward Sword remaster…. 😂)
